This is not a fancy place by any means, but for many JP residents it is the go-to place for comfort food. Want a steak? Go to Galway House. Want fried clams? Go to Galway House. Want fried fish? Go to Galway House. We haven’t been through the entire menu yet but we’re getting there. So far, everything has been... More

If you like the basics done right, this is the place. The menu has limited offerings, and no surprises, but the results are plain to see: ample portions of very well done basics. The specials offer a little more variety. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff is very attentive, although overworked. The restaurant often gets very crowded. The... More

We live in JP and this is our go to joint whenever we're hungry or tired or don't want to cook or when we have a hankering for the best fish & chips in Boston! The fish truly is so fresh & delicious. The salads are wonderful - real bleu cheese dressing made right. The ambiance is unique - it's... More

Classic Irish bar. Always busy on the times that we visited Boston and stayed in JP, could barely get a seat at the bar. Never tried the food but the beers were well priced for the states and the service was good. Many locals come here to watch sports, it is nothing more than a typical bar nothing particularly special... More

Great bartender, ok food selection if you care about food. If you don't care what you eat in terms of high quality but want quantity, this is the place for you. LOTS of local barflies. Kinda of fun once in a while.

My Husband and I came here with our son for dinner last week and it is the type of place we love. No frills, delicious food, large portions and a varied draft beer list with some hard to find beers on tap. Seafood platter and honey fried chicken were both excellent and the onion rings are a must have. The... More

You can't beat the Galway House for the price, food and the portions. If you're in JP, it's a must! I highly recommend the Fisherman's Platter or if you're in the mood for a steak, the Montreal Ribeye. The onion rings are great too thin, crispy and delicious!

Love the laid-back feel of Galway House! A fun, spirited spot for drinks and food. Irish tavern-inspired. Very convenient to walk from Taylor House Bed & Breakfast for a late-night snack--kitchen doesn't close til 1am or something like that. :)

Staying in Jamaica Plain

Neighbourhood Profile
Jamaica Plain
This Boston neighborhood feels like a distinct community unique and separate from the bustle of other areas. Beautiful Victorian homes, restaurants with an emphasis on being eco-friendly and providing local and organic food, and a large Hispanic community. Visit Centre and South streets for restaurants, cafes, and little shops. The Arnold Arboretum is a beautiful, large green space well worth a visit if you venture to JP.
