Okay, sandwiches I had in two visits are extremely good. They should be, as they cost $14-15 each. The problem is this: 1) place is open 11-3; 2) there are enough tables for 20 people (or groups); 3) the line is undefined and filled with tourists out the door; 4) locals use take out & bypass everything; and, 5) the... Absolutely fabulous sandwiches! Large portions, fresh ingredients and delivered on time. The grouped especially enjoyed the array of deserts. We enjoyed catered lunches from Sam LaGrassa's.

It is a family owned and run business now for many years. They use nothing but quality products in everything they serve. Their portions are so generous you can actually share things for people that are smaller eaters.

This sandwich shop is the best anywhere. I have been going there for the last 15 years and continued to be impressed with the quality and consistency of every delicious sandwich. The pastrami and corned beef are extraordinary and always just the right portion. These sandwiches are meat lovers perfection and although large are not ridiculous in size (like a... More

I've been getting sandwiches from this shop for years. They do a great job catering, and an even better job if you walk in and order the sandwich yourself off the street. Start with the Pastrami Traveler or the Chicken Diablo. You won't be disappointed!

We get Sam LaGrassa's catered for lunch at my office a couple times a month. Such great sandwiches! The Cuban is to die for! All of their breads and ingredients are fresh and delicious.

If you like sandwiches that are overflowing with meat, this is the place for you. You're pretty much getting two sandwiches for the price of one, hence the seemingly high prices. Forget the price and just enjoy the delicious heapings of meat and cheese on the quality bread. I keep it simple, roast beef and cheddar on rye. No need... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
