In Boston on an overnight visit in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. Walked into the Sevens and enjoyed the atmosphere at once. Solid, very competent barkeep, good crowd. I miss no nonsense dive bars. I no longer live in the northeast.

Our bartender Matt at Ned Devines in Faneuil hall told us we should stop in here while we are walking on Charles street , told us it was a friendly neighborhood bar and tell John Martin the bartender there that he sent us ! John knew who we were talking about and was a very gracious host pouring us wine... More

It's a local pub and has the atmosphere of a Boston Pub. Smell of beer and dark inside. But the pub food will surprise you. The sandwiches are big and tasty. From their roast beef dip to a great Ruben it's all good. Their soups and chills are good and hearty. Service is good and friendly....not a fancy eatery....perfect for... More

I stopped by for lunch when i was in Boston. I happened to be passing by and it looked like a nice locals joint so I gave it a try. I am glad I did. The clam chowder was excellent. Also, they have a very nice beer selection and a great local "sevens" dark ale. Excellent beer! Ended up going... More

I was really hungry and I stepped into the first place I found on my way through Beacon Hill. And it was totally worth it! Their pastrami sandwich was something I will remember for a long time. Plus, it turned out to be a pleasant place to enjoy your meal and a glass of beer.

We stopped here on a walking visit to Beacon Hill. Our whole visit was good until we came to leave. I had been given dollar coins as change from the MBTA ticket machine. For two beers I tipped two dollars BUTin coins. The barmaid rudely announced for all to hear "Ugh, change, that's ok, like we're servants!" Two dollars is... More

My first visit was 30 years ago and that was 50 years after they opened; I went back yesterday and not much has changed. Great local pub with a good selection of regional beer and some eats. In this trendy area of Boston it's nice to have some stalwarts.

Warm friendly and relaxed. It has a great variety of wines and beers and the food is great as well. We had Nachos with chilli and wings in bourbon dressing. It all tasted great. We even went back on two other occasions, and played darts. Just a good old fashioned bar to enjoy yourself in.

We finished up a two week trip to the US with three nights in our favourite city, Boston. Last time we came was a whole twelve years ago and we stayed at the same place behind Charles Street then as we did this time. We had made The Sevens our bar of choice to end the evening and were hoping... More

Popped in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised by the local feel in the fairly upscale neighborhood. Staff was very friendly and the pub food was better than most. Will most certainly return.

Neighbourhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
