The chips and salsa very fresh and the pulled pork flautas were fabulous! They were topped with very fresh tomatoes and greens. The wait staff was very friendly. Great lunch!

If you've been to Hillcrest you know how busy the restaurants get in the area --especially around breakfast time. With lines out the door at most places we were happy to find plenty of tables at Huapangos. Nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining. We ate indoors at the table with the secret drawer. Food is good and filling and... More

Looks like this place used to be somebody's house. Got a nice surprise of a delicious lunch with home made family recipes. Owner was very nice and the server was very friendly and genuine. Very nice people here! Great food. Highly recommend.

Good times with the hacienda brunch.. Only downfall.. We sat down at 1:45pm and two servers were deciding who should serve us. Couldn't have the bottomless champagne even though I was in the restaurant in time. The food was outstanding and when the server decided to serve us, it was good service.

Very good huevos rancheros, but DO NOT order the chicken, waffles and poppers. What a joke! Frozen poppers and chicken coupled with an underdone waffle. Shame! This could've been a lovely entree!

Stopped in for a drink and a place to charge my phone while waiting for a friend. Had a couple of margaritas that were tasty, but not worth the $9 price. The server/bartender was exceptionally friendly though.

My family and I decided to eat here on a whim this past Saturday. We live right down the block from this restaurant and had never tried it, so we thought we'd give it a chance. We were seated right away and the waiter took our drink orders. My husband's house margarita tasted like battery acid, it was so incredibly... More

I'm just going to cut to the chase: The food here is amazing. We went for brunch after a night out (and, like a couple of other reviewers, got turned off by the line at a brunch place down the street and ended up here). There was no line, the customer service was great, and the Mexican brunch dishes were... More

Description
Here's my review:
The good news is it's on a busy street corner. The bad news is, well, you get the idea. There's not much to be done about the bus stop out front or the weed-surrounded dilapidated tractor next door, but faster and more attentive service would help to distract customers. The beer menu is lengthy and several are offered in pint drafts, more would be better. Chips and salsa are complimentary but the cheesy one is oddly reminiscent of velveeta and picante sauce. Entrees were colorful and flavorful and food is generally good. The biggest challenge for Huapango's is the street corner location and the best remedy would seem to be service that is louder and faster than the street.
