The food was great and very generous portions. My wife and I as Seniors, should have split a meal. We could not finish the food there was so much. It was tasty, the restaurant quite large so a bit on the noisy side. Our server was not that great. There is complimentary parking right next to the restaurant. I would... More

I'm not a fan favorite of Mexican food but the food at Old Town Mexican Cafe is excellent. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was a long line on the sidewalk. We avoided the long line and sat at the bar. We had the best chips and salsa that I've ever eaten. The bartenders were friendly and the... More

I love the historic Mexican architecture. I love the food and just ambiance of the place. I love the Thomas Whaley house. It gives me an idea on what's the life in old town San Diego.

A co-worker suggested we eat here while visiting San Diego for a meeting. I tried molcajete for the first time and it was excellent, accompanied by their wonderful home-made tortillas. I'll definitely go back.

Went there with two other couples for dinner. It was crowded but we got a table pretty quickly. We had a good waiter who was on top of his game. The food was big and very tasty. Don't know when we will get back here, but this will be a place that we will return to.

Dont get the chance to come to San Diego that often, but when I do...Old Town Cafe is a must. It gets busy at dinner so stand by if you bring a group, otherwise if its just two people they get you in quick. Large portions so come hungry or share. The hand made tortillas are the best.

If you have to wait to be seated, head to the bar for one of their nicely prepared Cadillac Margaritas. We have experienced consistent friendly and above average customer service. Ask for the hot habenaro (sp) salsa... it's addictive. OTMC is one of our go-to spots to start off the weekend where you can easily get a table and enjoy... More

Come hungry and enjoy. The main courses are very filling so no need for any appetizers besides the delicious chips. Ask for more sauces, and they will bring a variety beyond the standard salsa. A colleague had the largest burrito that I have ever seen. I enjoyed a combo plate that was under $15. Great value, good food and good... More
