While it was busy and appears to be a favorite, the food was actually mediocre and bit on the high side price wise. The handmade tortillas are very good.

I absolutely DON'T recommend this restaurant. We wait 45 min for a table but the restaurant was half-empty (?) and when we finally sat we wait 30 min more for the order... my course was so spicy that I couldn't ate it (on the menù it wasn't pointed as a spicy one!). Despite all of this, our waitress has been... More

As it goes, the food was pretty good. Not the best Mexican we had in our nine day trip, but not the worst. Yummy margarita. Be prepared to wait in line.

Loved the Chiliquilles! Right in the middle of old town and not much of a wait. It is across the street from the Best Western Hacienda.

The food is wonderful; the only bad thing I could say is the service was a little slow but they are crazy busy. We had a wonderful time there and enjoyed our visit.

Right in Old Town San Diego. Tortillas are had made and delicious. The plates are very large and most will have left overs. I prefer the carnitas, pork fried in pork fat. Not the best for you but very tasty. They come with all the sides, cilantro, avocado, lime, tomatoes, onion, peppers, and really good re-fried beans with those fresh... More

Being from Australia and staying in San Diego, we really wanted to try some Mexican food. We visited Old Town and this restaurant is sort of straight across from the tourist part. We were attracted to this place by the ladies in the window making by hand the tortillas. We were shown to our table and the service through out... More

We ate here for lunch on a weekday. There was a short wait, but nothing too bad. The service was friendly and competent. The chips and salsa to start things off were as good as I've ever had. The food was plentiful and quite good, but with a few hints (cheddar cheese on top of the beans) of an "Americanized"... More

As usual when we visit my Wife's Tio & Tia in San Diego we get the great opportunity to eat at the Old Town Mexican Cafe. The atmosphere and food is ALWAYS great with a wide selection of dishes to choose from.

Thank Adam B
