Mandarin House has been demolished. A High Rise Condo (expensive) building is going up in it's place.

Sadly, this restaurant is no longer here - building was leveled to develop a new condo project. I don't think they are expected to re-open, but if it does, it's worth checking.

Mandarin House has been in La Jolla for years. Located on La Jolla Blvd it is not very fancy looking outside. There is small parking lot, but you can also find street parking on side streets. Menu is large and they have also have complete dinners depending on size of your party. Food is very good and they also have... More

We decided to have lunch at this casual American restaurant in Hillcrest yesterday. The weather was steamy, and the restaurant only had ceiling fans circulating hot air even though air conditioners were evident and not turned on. Only a few patrons were drinking at the bar and management seemed to be huddled around laptops ignoring the patrons. Our waitress who... More

Many nice selections that you will not find in most other Chinese restaurants. They do seafood very well and they are pretty consistent. Favorites for my family include Salt & Pepper Chicken, Chicken rolled over asparagus, scallops several ways, Moo Shu pork or Veg. Crab Rangoon is made with some pineapple and it is one of my favorite starters. Soups... More

Went to meet a friend at Mandarin House today for lunch and found that it was out of business! Originally met Martin in 1983 at their Pacific Beach location. For many years, he was the manager (owner?) of the Hillcrest location. Always warm, smiling, generous and gracious, Martin and his entire staff will be sorely missed. We held several large... More

So sad to have this landmark in Hillcrest/Midtown being lost to more condos. Martin and the staff at MH have been so gracious to us over the 2 decades we have been going there, we will truly be at a loss. Mandarin House had the best ambience for groups, great food, great service, and great prices. Not to mention flaming... More

Have eaten at this restaurant for many years, food and service is always great, call ahead for take-out which only takes about 15 minutes. Cashew Chicken is the best!

In San Diego for a conference and decided to order in. Called Mandarin House and placed an order. Delivery time was great! Super fast. The food however was the worst oriental food I have ever had. The fired rice was like mush. The Mongolian beef same texture. Live and learn. Should have stuck with the Fox Sports Grill in the... More

We really enjoy visiting the Mandarin House each time we visit San Diego. We order the special for two. We like sitting in the half moon booth.
