We had excellent margaritas and wonderful food at this restaurant. I had the vegetarian quesadilla. My son had a breakfast burrito and my other son had a steak quesadilla. The atmosphere is nice and service was good. We enjoyed our late lunch in old town.

Couldn't have been happier with our choice for lunch. Very good service, real chicken breast tacos and cold beer served in large schooners. Ask your server for hotter salsa if you like it spicy, you won't be disappointed. The tortilla soup is also very good. Lunch for three for $40 is pretty good while traveling on vacation.

With so many choices in Old Town, we decided on Fred's. I had been there years ago and had remembered enjoying the meal. We went for lunch and the menu had everything everyone wanted. The plates were overflowing, flavors were wonderful. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food. Even though it doesn't have the Mexican name, Fred's is... More

The food was very average. Nothing to brag about. We were going to the Old Town Restaurant and decided to cross the street because it was not crowded at Fred's. Should have stuck with our first choice.

In the core of old town, a favorite choice. Upbeat, friendly staff. Great drinks. Ordered ala carte lunch items, enchilada and chicken taco, guacamole and chips. Taco had huge pieces of grilled chicken, Enchilda dressed in two sauces, guac was chunky and tasty. Fast but not rushed service, good music, comfortable seating.

Was in Old Town during lunchtime, and decided to stop at Fred's, We both had taco's...carna asadas and fish tacos. Both were great, we each had one and switched plates to enjoy the other. Would recommend this as one of the best Mexican restaurants we've been to.

Large portions of food, fresh chips and salsa is very addicting. Upon request they will give you Spicer salsa. The habanero salsa is fantastic. Fajitas comes with lots of fresh vegetables and lots of meat to serve 2 people

We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious our meal was when we sat town at Fred's on the Thursday before Thanksgiving. I say this because every other restaurant had an hour+ wait and we just walked right up and sat down. Their chips, salsa and guacamole to start was yummy. The monster margarita I had was fabulous and the carne asada/chicken... More

Stopped here for lunch when visiting Old Town San Diego. My wife and I each had two different types of tacos, all of which were very good. Note that the burritos weigh 1 pound each!
