This is a great Mexican restaurant in Old Town San Diego. It's very busy all the time but it's very large (you'd never know it because of their good design) and they turn tables quickly. The line moved pretty quickly and both times we were seated as soon as we reached the front. Very friendly wait staff. Outdoor seating has... More

Old Town is filled with Mexican restaurants, and I tried my share. All are good. I really enjoyed Cafe Coyote. The food is flavorful and delicious...real Mexican food!

We tried this restaurant and we were not impressed. The place was packed with people waiting in line for hours for a table so we thought it would be great. Being from Texas we know what mexican food should taste like and this was not it. It was noisy and hard to carry on a conversation. The best thing we... More

If this was my first exposure Mexican food in San Diego, I would never eat it again. Don't let the ladies making tortillas by the street, this Mexican food staple gets destroyed once it enters the kitchen. There were pools of some sort of oil resting at the bottom of my plate of what they claimed was beef burritos. My... More

We stopped in to Cafe Coyote after exploring Old Town. I was happy we did. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are in Mexico. The service is excellent. I started with the Tortilla Soup. Oh my! This is the best tortilla soup I have ever had. I will order a cup of it each time I go. I had... More

Had the carne asada. It was more than enough for 2 people so I brought some home. Excellent food and service was terrific. Could not have been any faster. Could have done without the quart size soda for 3.95. (Didn't notice on menu. Just ordered it).

Location and décor were one of the reasons we stopped to have a bite to eat. I have to say out of the many places along the street serving food, I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food. A little bland, not what I was expecting. Will have to give it another try when I am in... More

We went to this place on the recommendation from our hotel staff. While it was good, it wasn't anything special. We had tamales which were fresh but were more corn meal and not a lot of meat. Also, the chimichanga had most of the meat near one end...not too balanced. Overall, ok experience. Price for two meals was around $30... More

Freshly made tortillas, fish tacos & carne asada were great. The mariachis came by with music too. Salsa & chips to round out the meal.

We came here due to high reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed, I had chile relleno that had no cheese in it and so small covered with a bland sauce no,flavor, I also ordered a fish taco. No appeal to the plate and no tasty, the fish was a fried fish she overly done that you taste the oil. Now, the... More
