We found the Rum House while looking for a place to watch Jazz music. This place is less than a block from Times Square in an Hotel. It is a cozy bar, all dark and woody. They had a group playing Jazz and Popular music covers in a groovy style. The Waitress did all the possible to accommodate us, and... More

I knew of this place from my last visit to NYC. And from the movie Birdman. I wanted to visit again, enjoy it, really enjoy it. My husband and I spent most of our first night there having drinks, listening to the band and eating a huge pretzel and mustard. This place does not have a menu, and it is... More

I love this place. Very intimate atmosphere, fantastic drinks and live music every night. They have a happy hour, too. Great for a pre-show drink or a nightcap.

The bar and restaurant were really busy. I was by myself just looking for a quick bite at the bar prior to attending a Broadway show 2 blocks away. I'd walked in with a couple looking for the same thing. They saw a table just being cleared so we grabbed it. It was a high top between the front reception... More

The Rum House was attatched to our hotel. We stopped after a long day of sight-seeing every evening for a drink and met wonderful people from all over the world!

This bar is attached to the front of the Eddison hotel so was very convenient for our trip.Great vibe on the Friday night we called in,a very impressive young singer doing a mix of jazz and opera.Beer was decent and we enjoyed watching the barman making cocktails.Average value for money

Excuse the alliteration but this place has had a great reputations for decades and I've had some great memories (many I forget - thanks to photos I have recall after sampling many rum-based cocktails). Some say it's pricey (it's Manhattan) some say the staff is rude (sorry to hear that but I've never witnessed anything like that on my dozen... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
