My boyfriend and I came here on one of our earlier dates and had such a lovely time. We ended up coming in just as it opened so it was low key and cozy. The fondue was so delicious and the choices for dipping were outstanding. We had a guyere cheese option for the savory choice and the dark chocolate... More

We were advised that this bar has recently relocated to Macdougal Street from the East Village. We came across this place by chance for one drink - but ended up staying for two and could easily have stayed for more! Amazing champagne cocktails and fabulously indulgent décor which makes for a great spot for couples. The bartender was charming as... More

Stepping into this place is like another world. Red velvet everywhere-- you feel like you've stepped into the past, or a movie. The wine list was very good, but I can't vouch for the food as my companions ordered the charcuterie and I don't eat meat. But they seemed pleased with it! Definitely intend to go back.

I had high hopes for some fondue in NYC, but was disappointed. Cheddar/Apple bruschetta was good, fondue was just ok (cheese). Couldn't get up from our table without disturbing two other parties and it was extremely hot in the restaurant/bar. Passed on chocolate fondue because of the heat and uncomfortable environment. Waitress was terrific.

This is a place I have wanted to experience for several years. On this current visit into the city, I went with 2 girlfriends. FIRST, if you are claustrophobic this is NOT the place for you. SECOND, the music is quite loud. BUT the wait staff was very attentive and the FONDUE was delish. YES, this place specializes in FONDUE.... More

We came here for cocktails relatively late on a week night. It was ok, but the cocktails were too sweet and not great. The decor is fun and maybe it's just that it was quiet that we weren't overly enamoured.

I have just recently moved to Seminole Heights and was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with a trendy, yet, casual atmosphere. From the eye-catching decorations inside and the wrap around to the outside garden, The Bourgeois Pig gives you several choices on your dining experience. The food had an upscale presentation with competitive prices. My Dad and I had... More

Great ambience. Feels like a small little Moulin Rouge:-) Could be my daily hangout if I was a New Yorker. Very classy crowd and great service in a seedy (good seedy) environment. Love the name as well:-)

Visited The Bourgeois Pig on a Tuesday evening with a work colleague. Overall, it was a very nice experience. Learned upon arrival that they were offering bottles of wine at 50% off for the evening so after enjoying reasonably well prepared cocktail each we opted for a decent bottle of red for a decent price. We ordered a meat/cheese board... More

Great gem in the east village! We went on a Tuesday night unexpectedly. It was half priced bottles which made all of the bottles very reasonable! We had a nice rose, and ordered a few small plates to snack on. We had the olive tapenade crostinis and the side of asparagus. Both were really great and hit the spot. I... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
