I Love this place. They are super serious about the kind of coffee they serve. You won't find any frilly drinks here. Just simple, amazing coffee and they definitely know their stuff! I always get the Espresso and it's soooo smooth. Never disappoints. The people that work there are definitely into their coffee and they let it show. It's an... More

Met friends in Abraco for a quick coffee. All I can say is wow. Tremendous. From the jazz music being played at 9.30am to the laptop ban....everything about this place is great.

This is a tiny place but so worth going out of your way, if it happens to be. I make sure to come here every time we visit NYC because it is WORTH IT and also I saw the bass player of Weezer here one time. Get the olive shortbread cookies for an interesting sweet and salty pastry and any... More

Lovely people. Really great coffee. A small selection of perfect baked goodies - all made fresh in the open bakery at the back of their liveky (new) location. You couldn't ask for a more perfect chilled-out location in the East Village, for your first (and second) coffee of a Sunday morning.

My wife and I come here as much as possible for their perfect cappuccinos- hot and iced. We loved the old 'window' location, but the new space is awesome and feels like home. The owners and baristas are fantastic. Don't forget to get a slice of olive oil cake or frittata!

This place never disappoints. it is amazing coffee and espresso drinks. No hype, just pure excellence in quality and preparation. Limited snacks, but all of good quality such as the scones and olive cake. No seating, but has a bar (like Italy) to rest your cup and enjoy the street action. Highly recommend as the best --

When I was travelling in New York City, I have made a point to visit the cafe Abraço which was on the list of Alon's Favourite Cafes in New York City. Alon Halevy is the author of the book The Infinite Emotions of Coffee. I ordered a cup of cafe latte. The coffee tasted good! The cafe latte went well... More

2nd time already that I pass by this small bar. Coffee and cappuccino are excellent and pastries too (the olive cake rules!). The place is so tiny you can't even sit but it's just perfect if you are planning to go for a nice morning walk in the east village. Also the Brazilian music (the owner is a Gilberto Gil... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
