This is a new and improved Sol y Sombra restaurant under new management and it shows!!. On 10/25/13, I had most wonderful dinner. Delicious codfish croquettes so creamy inside that they melt in your mouth. Main course a divine filet white fish in a wine...More

Stumbled upon this place one Sunday evening while visiting NYC. Most other places were packed, this place had empty seats at the bar, my preferred seating when traveling solo. I had a red sangria while checking the menu, I had asked for a sangria and...More

Dinner here was dumb luck - a Saturday night " walkabout" from our Beacon Hotel base (with no idea where we would dine.) We stopped to scan the Sol y Sombra menu at streetside and were soon discussing squid ink "black rice" with the chef....More

I came here with two friends from college on a recommendation. We had not seen each other in years, so we had much to catch up on over sangria and delicious tapas. The wait staff was good as they paid attention to us, but also...More

Super-friendly service, great food (portions like appetizers rather then tapas). The night I was there, it was raining and rather slow. However, the wait-staff was attentive, the food was superb, and the atmosphere great. This is a "pearl" that is not to miss.

Even though we had a Restaurant.com coupon, they would not honor it because the restaurant changed their policy. Mistake on the part of whoever decided...wrong thing to do! That took three people discussing it for a full ten minutes or so. Bad start. Saturday night,...More

Having wandered up and down Amsterdam Ave we kind of settled on this place because there were spaces. We were not disappointed. The staff were just great (it was our waitresses first night, but you wouldn't have known it, she was excellent!), the manager (owner?)...More
