This place was recommended by our hotel which was a short walk away. We stopped in for lunch. Small quaint restaurant. Very good variety on the menu. I had the chicken parm lunch portion, which was more than enough. My wife had the fish special, can't remember the name of the fish but she loved it. The staff was friendly... More

We were in New York for a week that we had not anticipated on the Upper East Side. We wandered around looking for places to eat and found Finestra . We came back for lunch we came back for dinner and repeated and repeated and repeated. What I loved about the restaurant was that the chef could make whatever you... More

If they are serving a large group -- as they often do because of the number of hospitals in the area -- consider going elsewhere. The conversation of the group dominates the entire room; tonight there was a table of 12 doctors in training, we had difficulty hearing each other, and we could not here the guitarist at all, 20... The food can be erratic but service is always extremely welcoming and helpful -- especially with descriptions of some of the chef's own contributions to Italian cuisine. The decorations are very amusing -- umbrellas cover the ceiling for example. Music is provided by a guitarist from time to time, and a recent dinner outside was noisy from the traffic but... More

Excellent food, great service in this small neighborhood restaurant. The customers were a good mix of local and out-of-towners. The owner Simone has an excellent memory for people, On our second visit she greeted us as returning patrons and even remembered some of what we ordered which I found astounding. The rest of the staff is equally friendly and helpful.... More

Small Italian restaurant convenient to the Hospital for Special Surgery. Clearly a local clientele; at least three tables were speaking Italian. Friendly and attentive service; very much a team effort, but not overwhelming or pressuring. Overall good cleanliness including the men's room. Decor is offbeat and charming -- Italian kitch with a smile. Beautiful fresh flowers. Very cold Peroni beer,... More

Four of us had a great dinner at Finestra last week. We were warmly greeted when we entered this nice neighborhood Italian restaurant. The soup, seafood salad, and calamari were a good start, followed by varied pasta and chicken dishes. All hot, fresh, and delicious. Nice wine list too. A sweet dessert, coffee, expresso, and a bit of Lemoncello made... More

Pleasant environment. Nice tasting food, nothing too spectacular but ok for a quick dining out. The service was excellent and very prompt. We will go back.

Went here because was forced to for a family event. The food was not good. It was not completely inedible but not good. I don't think the ingredients were of the best quality. And I felt rushed unnecessarily by the staff. NYC has so many options. Don't waste your time here.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
