This place is nicely decorated and has a great bar but I think they could raise the standards elsewhere. First it is too loud. The sound should be turned down from 11 to 5. In addition the food servers could be more attentive. The food is ok and should be raised to the level of the decor. The bar is... More

The décor is great, the towering woodwork behind the bar harkens to another era. Service is friendly, no small achievement given how packed this place gets. The food is good, but the atmosphere, laughter and energy are the real star.

If you don't mind most of the seating being high chairs, this surprisingly empty place (the bar scene is active am told) for lunch offers a small menu of your typical American comfort food, a range of burgers and a couple of fresh salads. Service is decent and is worth a relatively quiet and inexpensive lunch

45 minutes after ordering two sandwiches on a slow Saturday we asked the waitress "Do orders usually take this long?" "Always," she said. We should have abandoned our watery cocktails then and run before the fake pot pie (with the grilled puff pastry applied paste-- not pastry-- wrong side up) arrived with the woeful fish sadwich (spelling intentional). We should... More

This was a great place to have brunch in Midtown! I thought I had made a reservation but they didn't have it but we were able to sit at the bar. The food was delicious and the service was friendly.

Yum at first bite. I had a Queso Burger with Parmesan fries. Both were delicious and surprisingly light. Beautiful historic looking atmosphere. Would be great for meeting, date, or causal meal. Will go again.

For the weary traveller to re charge relax eat drink Guinness very good. Brilliant staff and great Irish bands on during our stay. Defiantly our regular pub when in New York. We can't wait to re visit. Xx.

If you're not feeling Christmasie enough yet - call into this place and you will find yourself surrounded by Christmas decorations bright colours and cheer. It put a smile on my face - purely for the 'over the top' nature of it. We stayed for cocktails only - which were good and typically priced (c$13 - $14). Made fresh and... More

We came here for drinks and a bite to eat and tried out some of the unique Manhattans (LOVED the Old Smokey), but had a horrible experience with our server (Rita A. according to the receipt). When we finished eating she slapped our bill down on the table without even asking if we were done/wanted to leave our tab open... More

A group of 6 of us went to Lillie's on a Wednesday night. It's been a while since I've been there but it's always a good time. I was sad to see that the menu changed (two of my faves were gone) but the new menu was still filled with plenty of options. We started off with drinks and had... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
