Expect Asian customers with no reservations to be seated first, even if they just came in and you and your kids were on line for 30 min; I had some sanitary concerns about that place as I looked at the back of the restaurant; Food is very average and extremely overpriced. We had both pork and beef, no42 and no98... More

Ate at Nam Son while in NYC on a getaway with my husband and it was very good. Super convenient as it is literally a stone's throw from the Grand Street subway station on the B and D lines. We had Vietnamese crepes, a rice stick and chicken bowl and shrimp and pork along with spring rolls, all for about... More

a good Vietnamese restaurant should be rated by their soup, rice noodle, meat, vegetables and service. Other dishes too, and cleanliness. But the "pho" soup is really a standard, I think you'd agree. Another pair of standards: always crowded; they have three shops (below Wall St.; Roosevelt Ave.; Grand St.)

The restaurant was recommended by a friend and I am passing on my recommendation. The food was delicious and plentiful and the service could not be faulted. A good all round restaurant. I would go back next time to try the other menu items.

No frills dumplings, vietnamese rolls and more. Maybe a wee bit more spiciness would have been nice.

We were there on two occasions. On both occasions, the restaurant was well patronised. Some of the staff appeared flustered and the service was inconsistent. The menu is not all that extensive. I was, however, satisfied with my order - the #6 rare beef rice noodle Pho and a plate of small spring rolls. The Pho was flavoursome and the... More

I arrived just before 20:00 on weekday. The restaurant was quite full, there was no queue but still occupied most of tables. When I saw the menu, the price for pho(regular size) looks quite reasonable compare to the other Vietnamese restaurants where I have been in US. (about $6.95?, anyway less than $7 excl. tax). The other places were about... More

The atmosphere and smells from the kitchen were attractive from the moment I walked in the door. Coming straight from Europe on an 8 hour trip mad me very hungry and tired. I ordered pho , traditional Vietnamese soup with fish balls and fried spring rolls. Everything freshly made and served quickly with a smile. Like being back in Vietnam.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
