Someone who works in the area originally suggested that we try this restaurant. We were immediately taken. It's wine list is excellent and the food authentic. One of our favorite dishes is Vitello Tonnato. We had been having problems finding any restaurant in New York which could prepare this dish properly. They did and continue to do it wonderfully. The... More

This establishment is owned by locals and in that respect is in the Mom and Pop type of establishment that is favored by locals and every day there are many dining here. There is not a tremendous amount of seating so reservations are recommended. Not being a chain, and having their own high standards, pasta is fresh, the gnocchi for... More

We were lucky to get a table without a booking on a busy Saturday night. There was a cancellation and we were so pleased. This was a great find. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and the selection of wines also gave us plenty of choices. The decor is fun and I would certainly return... More

I took customers for a holiday lunch and had the minestrone soup, veal saltimbocca with risotto and it was fantastic. We also shared a couple of desserts. This is my second time there and both times it totally impressed me.

We returned to Petrarch yesterday recalling some fine meals there several years ago but were unfortunately disappointed. Although a wild mushroom soup was fine, a mussel appetizer was lukewarm and the broth, usually the best part of this dish, tasted only of lemon juice and had no mussel flavor. Still worse was the linguine seppie with seafood. While the fresh... More

We met here with family visiting from Europe so were cautious in our choice of dining. 5 out of the 6 at the table cook and entertain actively, one had professional qualifications. Our food was different, delightful and matched the descriptions of the menu/ specials. The ambience is pleasant, and it's easy to have a conversation across a table of... More

We have eaten at Petrarca many times with our New York family. We are from Denver so authentic Italian food is few and far. I have never had a bad entree here. Last nights butternut squash ravioli did not disappoint. Also had some carbonara which was very good as was the red wine risotto. A treat for is when we... More

Neighbourhood Profile
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighbourhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighbourhood home.
