Visited here for food on a Friday evening and after my girlfriend walked past and liked the look a few days earlier. The staff are all very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed and vibrant. The food was also very good and the portion sizes were plentiful. Would definitely return for food or just to have a few beers.

Stopped in with my wife for Sunday afternoon beer and caught part of the NFL Sunday game - bartender did a great job looking after us! Good sandwiches and pub fare.

We were walking around trying to find a place to go and we saw the actual Penny Farthing bike. We own a bike touring company in Marrakech so of course we love bikes and had to go in. It was such a party! Good looking ladies everywhere and the booze was flowing. When I come back to New York I'm... More

Stumbled upon this adorable pub after a hot and sweaty day of walking. Mid-afternoon, so lots of empty tables and we were seated right away. Good service, good food, and the pub ambiance was perfect. There is sidewalk seating that looked fabulous, but we were just too hot.

They have great lunch specials. Try the sweet potato fries! However, the food does take a long time to come out. I've been here a couple times and the food always takes approximately 30 minutes to cook. Beware of this if you are on your lunch hour. They do takeout and you should call ahead to order to avoid the... More

Really enjoyed our brunch here sitting outside on the street. Service was good, and so was the food. Choices during brunch mainly different egg dishes, but also pancakes and fruits are on the menu.

Over the past year, I have eaten at Penny Farthing probably about 30 times. They have roughly 12 lunch specials, and I have had all of them. Each time the food has been excellent. Not once have I or has anyone I was with said that any of the meals wasn't very good. Burgers, pasta with shrimp, salmon, chicken, Cobb... More

Food was good especially the ahi tuna salad. Drinks are good. Didn't get 5 stars cuz service was slow. Outdoor seating is great but you have to order dinner. The doors open so on a nice day seating inside still feels great.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
