Went to El Porron alone, arriving early. I just wanted an Entree, but the waiter somehow without my explicit request included a Starter. This starter consisted of 4 scappos to the tune of $16. I think the scallops came from the frozen section of the 7Eleven next door. Beware, the place looks classy. The wine is OK. But you will... More

El Perron means a type of bottle and this place is decorated with them. It is a cute place to have a drink and have small plates called tapas. They are Spanish delicacies like gambas aljillo, paella, empanadas, tortas etc. It is a good place for casual dining and it has a special charm. The food is not bad either.

Small plates, entrees, great cocktails (Cava Sangria is my fav). Great atmosphere, can hold a conversation with friends. Great for date night too! Management will even accommodate strollers (for families).

El Porron is a good local Spanish tapas bar and restaurant. Feels like being back in Spain. We sat at the bar and sampled some tasty shrimp, octopus, squid, and other select tapas. The meatballs were delicious. Very good wine list - we opted for an Albariño that was crisp and good value. The atmosphere is also very good -... More

This place is a welcome find in a neighborhood with too many so-so "me too" choices. One side of the menu is comprised entirely of hot and cold small plates including absolutely delicious grilled calamari (so rare to find calamari grilled vs fried) and the other side, entree sized portions of many of the same items (though there are some... The waiter was very friendly and had some nice jokes , the food was not bad but don't forget Spain is for the moment a trens setting country in gastronomy , some of your tapas should have a higher level . They are certainly not bad , in the contrary , take a look at the shushi restaurant a bit... More

We ate here the first night in NYC as it was a short walk from our hotel. It's decor is pure stylish NYC and the service is splendidly Spanish. We ordered a pitcher of white sangria to get us through the menu. We finally settled on grilled octopus and grilled artichokes as Tapas starters. The octopus was sweet and tender... More

We celebrated our daugther's 21st birthday at El Porron and had an amazing time. We especially loved the pulpo, calamari, shrimp, paella, and sangria. The owner and staff were wonderful to work with. We'll definitely be back!

We had a number of tapas (small dishes) and they were delicious - the shrimp with garlic, the octopus, mushrooms, salmon, manchego. They were prepared well and had a wonderful flavor. The only one I didn't like was the cold tapas with potato and tuna. The service was attentive, helpful and calm. I highly recommend.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
