We have eaten here several times, and the food is always interesting -- the chef experiments often, and I love trying new recipes -- we are a match made in heaven. My companion is more traditional, but always finds something good. So far we haven't had one bad meal. Good cleanliness, very friendly service, noise level is very high because... More

High hopes going for brunch today but it didn't really hit the spot. The scrambled eggs were pretty average and the potatoes that came with them were really just slopped on the plate. The French toast was extremely sweet and may as well have been cake. Coffee was good but nothing special. Staff were very good.

Had a fantastic meal here in a place with a real local feel that we were looking for as visitors in New York. The food quality was top notch with a menu filled with so much choice the hardest part is choosing what to have. My steak was cooked perfectly to my liking and the accompanying veg and truffle mash... More

Food was good, price was good, service was ok. Never refilled tea.Price was good for NY. The place needs a re-due. The wood floor is in very bad shape. We hear they will be tearing this building down and that may be why it is not kept up.

Great neighborhood joint. We ate there twice due to the convenient location to our apartment. Friendly staff. Great basics.

Still a very gracious welcome and prompt, attentive service throughout. A perfect wild mushroom soup on a mushroom stock base, delicate, woodsy and lightly salted. Perfect fried baby artichoke, crisp and dry with delicious and delicate aioli -- the same as two years ago. The salmon was perfectly prepared and served with very fresh julienned vegetables and a large serving... More

Its really a shame. This is (was) a neighborhood gem (Ive rated it highly in the past). Good food and great service. Tonight, the presence of a large cockroach really put a damper on the evening. Frightened the kids to bits! Being from New York, Ive seen my fair share of cockroaches, but not at a place like East End... More

Waited almost an hour to be served the wrong dish. My wife had to eat her food alone while they corrected things. Had hoped for a relaxing Sunday brunch but we were very disappointed. Food unspectacular even when it finally came.

Wednesday night is mussel night and it was excellent. We were given home-made rolls and olive oil to munch while we perused the menu, replenished while our meal was cooked. The mussels were huge and the broth was great. The french fries were plentiful. I made room for a dessert - the special was a chocolate-chip cookie and ice-cream -... More

This is a hidden gem thats snuck away in a side street (East End & 81st). The dimmed lighting created a soothing romanic soft atmosphere that was paired with calming classic music. The service were friendly, helpful and informed on the details of the menu. The food was outstanding we had dinner (vegan mushroom and vegetable soup, & Organic Roasted... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
