An amazing and unique experience, the menu was very different to usual but catered for all tastes, the service was brilliant and the pawn shop frontage adds to the excitement especially when surprising the other half

Beauty and Essex is a fun and unique place with a group of friends. Located in the lower east side you wonder if you made a good choice as you walk through the entrance which is an old pawn shop. As you walk through the...More

Amazing atmosphere, food was superb, excellent service and brilliant gluten free choices too. Couldn't fault it. We had clams, carpaccio, tuna starters followed by Chicken, short ribs, veal pasta for mains. Everything was really tasty and whilst more expensive than your regular restaurant we felt...More

We had the best time at the champagne brunch. The atmosphere was classy and fun and the staff was friendly and prompt with service. One of my friends is a vegetarian and the kitchen replaced her share of our coursed meal with an alternative non-meat...More

Love how you walk through the small pawn shop not knowing what to expect and then the door opens to find this massive, beautifully decorated restaurant and bar. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The food and cocktails were incredibly delicious. We had...More

The room is the star at this restaurant. We enjoyed the food but nothing amazing. Wait staff do not all have the same idea as to what good service is. Your evening will depend on who you have.

What a cool restaurant.... you enter through a pawn shop then move in to a trendy restaurant. Amazing food and apps! Service was great... a bit on the pricey end but well worth it. Ladies.... they serve champagne in the ladies room!

Loved this place! Booked in advance for four of us (two couples) It's a trendy restaurant set behind a pawn shop. It's glam, chic and very cool but it didn't feel stuffy. Staff were welcoming. Great dining room. You could spend a moderate amount or...More

We booked Beauty & Essex on the recommendation of our hotel. It didn't disappoint. The entrance is deceptive as you move from an old shop front into this large, vibrant, bustling restaurant. The decor is bold and eclectic. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived...More

There are 10 of us from the UK going to NY early June. We were thinking of heading to B&E on a Saturday night just to sit and have drinks and maybe a little dance. Do we have to get on any guest list or book beforehand?

It'll be very hard to get a reservation especially for so many people. The place is rather small and somewhat tight. But try. Try for the outdoor garden. Make the place even noisier than it is!!

A friend has recommended your restaurant and we are first time visitors to NYC coming in early March so have no idea where anything is yet. We are only staying Mon-Thurs and your opening times suggest Thursday evening is the only time we'd be able to visit? Is this correct and how early would we need to reserve a table for 2. Thank you

We went on a Thursday night. It was very crowded but we did have a reservation. I don't know if the concierge at The Ritz made the reservation for us or if American Express did but we definitely would have needed one. We... More

Hi Mariana, Children are allowed to eat at Beauty & Essex on any day of the week. The restaurant does tend to get busier/louder and become more of a party atmosphere later in the evening, so while children are allowed in... More
