We went here for an early dinner to take advantage of restaurant week prices. We picked it solely because it was in the right location and the menu and prices looked good. First, let me say that all the staff were very good, attentive, and helpful. Our waitress was so sweet! She made the experience better all the way around.... More

We stumbled upon this little gem on our way to a show at the Blue Note and ordered some quite simplistic stuff on the menu- tortilla, ham, cheese, potatoes, olives, etc. All beautifully presented and the staff knew everything about the menu, impressive knowledge really. Lovely waitress who took the time to talk to us and recommend things, didn't feel... More

We have visited Spain many times and love the cuisine, particularly the tapas. We then happened upon Barraca and stopped for lunch and returned a few days later for dinner. Excellent tapas. Authentic. Good selection of Spanish wines and sherries. Excellent service. If Spanish food is your thing, check it out. If you haven't discovered the delights of the Spanish... More

With its warm brick walls and cozy seating, Tertulia was just right for lunch after the movies. We surrendered to a glass of sherry from their extensive list by the glass and then sampled several tapas--ham croquettes, blistered shishito peppers, Iberico ham and, to go with it, tomato bread. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable with helpful recommendations and we'll... More

the sangria was delicious. The crispy potatoes were so good I wanted a second order. The chicken paella was a lot for two people but was yummy. The chocolate tart was really good and the salt made it! The service was good. We are definitely coming back!

Went here last week for a second visit with a friend. Great place for sharing dishes. Most are tapas sized and priced accordingly. We shared 5 plates including a few of the daily specials and only one, a croquette with jamon, was a bit disappointing. But when we mentioned this to our attentive waiter, he replied that the filling was... More

We stumbled on Tertulia a few weeks ago. The atmosphere is relaxed, unpretentious while at the same time being borderline hipster- a difficult combination to pull off. We ordered the daily tapas tasting menu. This was pretty much a perfect amount of food with 8 courses or so for $65 per person. A bargain! The tapas were super flavorful- the simple... More

We had a reservation for 4, but they easily accommodated us when another family member showed up! We ordered the $45 chef's menu and it was wonderful - the croquetas, the patatas, the jamon were all very good - the pad tomate reminded us of Barcelona. The kale salad was very nicely mad and came about halfway through our journey... More

The spot is an absolute must if you're in Greenwich Village. I had the the most amazing paella of the day with chicken that melted in your mouth, and my husband had a Freida burger and both just made our day. We started with sampling the smoked deviled egg which was out of this world. You MUST stop here -... More

My friends and I had intended to try Tertulia's Restaurant week recently, but its regular menu looked more attractive, so we decided on trying the chefs' menu instead for $65 (which offers both paella and steak as well as 8 tapas and 2 desserts). We were very impressed with every dish, each bursting with flavor, and the memories took me... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
