I lived in the Philippines for 11yrs, and being able to meet up with a very good friend who now calls the Big Apple her home was a highlight of my recent trip. I was travelling with 3 UK friends and wanted to give them a taster of Pinoy cuisine and Maharlika did not disappoint. After the customary round of... More

I went there for a brunch. I ordered sizzling pork sisig and mini shanghai. The pork is crispy and rightly complimented with egg. Serving size is enough for one. The mini shanghai is good. I just want them to make the sweet chili sauce a little more thicker. Ambiance is fine. I recommend others to try the local beer. Overall... More

They have it all from balut on down. I did not try them but everything else we had was excellent. It is small and gets busy so I would call ahead with a reservation. Service was excellent as well! I would definitely go back.

This is Jeepney's sister restaurant down the street. We loved the sisig and the uni palabok! Chicken chicharrones was about greasy.

Was craving for some filipino food in New York and Maharlika is the place to go. A young and dynamic team will receive you. Very friendly and funny. I sat at the bar where I also ate. You are served quickly and food is divine. Sarap! Had the salmon sinigan. A dish to advice.

My bf and I have been regulars here ever since we discovered it a month or 2 ago. The food and service are both top notch. It's best for brunch and Sunday evening pris fixe imo. Make sure you try the garlic rice and Filipino Flash!

We're from Hawaii where Filipino restaurants are everywhere. However Maharlika is a fine Filipino restaurant, with unusual dishes and that made it very special. Unusual to see Balut and Spam Fries on the menu. Liked the atmosphere and casual dining area. It's a small spot, so it can get busy.

The purple yam waffles w sweet coconut syrup were scrumptious! The atmosphere and decor were gorgeous too and great personal service. The sausage was delicious too! A must try for a new cuisine. Well done!

This is a great find! We were craving for authentic Filipino cuisine and found this restaurant! Savory dishes and lush desserts galore! The price is right, and this restaurant truly enriches the " flavor " of the East Village. Come hungry!

We visited Maharlika over the weekend as my daughter was needing her Filipino food fix. We were lucky to get a table that night as the place was packed. Hubert the waiter was helpful, friendly and funny. We had the spring rolls, the pok pok appetizers, sizzling sisig, the pata confit, bok choy and garlic fried rice. The food was... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
