Stopped in here for a quick meal after arriving in the city from a long morning of travel. The tacos were all great. The fish was fresh and lightly battered. The Barbacoa was very tender with great flavor. A full order of guacamole and chips was perfect for 2 people. I would stop in here again for sure.

I went to Tacombi Flatiron for brunch with friends yesterday. It's a lively spot with fun decor and a happy vibe. We had guacamole, tacos and a quesadilla. The crispy fish taco was very good. I also had a shrimp taco, and that had a bit of kick to it, which I liked. My friend who ordered the quesadilla had... More

We learned about this through a food tour of Nolita and just recently we were able to come back for a full meal. I really like the look of this place - I think it was an old garage or warehouse. The VW bus where they do the cooking is very cool. The food is very good - especially the... More

The vibes of this Mexican restaurant are great. The tacos are being served out of a VW van, and the packed room has an excited buzz that creates a laid back atmosphere. I got a chicken, a beef, and a seared fish taco following a huge appetizer of guacamole (they certainly didn't skimp on the avocado here!) The tacos were... More

This place was recommended to us by a friend and it was definitely a good shout. The decor is pretty cool - the staff are quite laid back and the food was very fresh and delicious! We had the taco specials and the avocado with tortilla chips - pretty tasty and very filling. We didn't have cocktails on the evening... More

I visited this restaurant in January, 2016. The restaurant is an authentic piece of Mexico, complete with the VW van and crates of fresh limes. The service is warm and efficient. The food is fresh and tasty. What is there not to love?

After an exhibit at the nearby New Museum, we decided to have lunch in the hood. Tacombi is 2 blocks away and has a hip, funky vibe--but you're paying for what must be their astronomical rent. We ordered 4 tacos, a guacamole tostada, and an order of rice and beans. Usually Mexican places give you the rice and beans with... More

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
