This is a small Indian restaurant on the Lower East Side. They now have several locations around the city. The food was delicious, service was excellent and the atmosphere casual. The 2 curries we ordered were both very tasty and I was impressed by the tenderness of the lamb in the dish. Prices were reasonable and represented good value. The... More

Typically my wife and I spend more time in Midtown, but we happened to be in the area after walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and traipsing around the Fulton Market and then wandering past the edge of Chinatown. I had eaten here once before (in November) and was eager to show her another Indian restaurant. She had a lamb dish,... More

This little lower east side charmer has it all. The ambiance is perfect for a casual evening and the food was exceptional. Add to that the reasonable prices and friendly and caring staff and you have a sure winner. The added touch when the owner, Masala Wala comes by your table to make sure you enjoyed everything puts a finishing... More

Really great experience all around. MasalaWala is not on my normal roster of Indian places. However, they recently donated a huge amount of food to a fundraiser I was part of at the New York Junior League (complete with a very pleasant server who helped at the fundraiser). Between how great the samosas were and how grateful I was for... More

Good Indian food in a small space although with a very kind service. Take aways were constant there! Curries are so special and it worths a visit if you're around the area. Reservations by web or email didn't work properly, so use the telephone. En relación a los precios de los restaurantes indios españoles, la cuenta final es un poco... More

Went for dinner Friday night. Had to wait for 15 mins around 830 pm. But wait was worth it. Service was exceptional. Food was good authentic and you could taste the ingredients. The spinach paneer was not the usual ground mush that you get in most place. They offer a choice of spice which is good as the spicy stuff... More

Try the Prawn & Cauliflower Appetizers to start. The coconut peanut eggplant is to die for. Garlic Naan, and Chef's creation of Chicken Curry is amazing! Green Tea or Mango frozen Yoghurt...yummmm. I go every week. These people are like family. Everyone receives warm smiles, excellent service, and superb food. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go again next Friday. See... More

If you like excellent Indian food, a warm inviting setting, and friendly knowledgeable service this restaurant is for you. We asked our server to suggest different dishes to give us a good representation of the flavors of India and it was all prepared quickly and all of it was delicious. In fact, the three of us could not say which... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
