We eat Greek food whenever we can. often it's casual and not suitable for 'a nice night out' or in sketchy neighborhoods This was a great find. High end location, beautiful modern decor- it feels very chic and then the menu is filled with sophisticated versions of known flavors. No gyros or souvlaki here. Fresh grilled fish. Not overrun by... More

An attractive room on a side street in TriBeCa hearkening back to a genteel professional European style of service. The menu is heavily weighted to seafood but surprisingly the two items I wanted were not available. Our meal was good and my vegetarian friend was accommodated by the kitchen. The food was good and perfectly good but not overwhelmingly so. The... More

I ate dinner here last night with a group of 32 people. We sat on the main floor in the back with 5 tables of 6 people. The food was outstanding/amazing and the service was great!! My boss has high standards and he was happy.

My first time to this restaurant. It was wonderful. Staff, service, food, ambience - this place has it all. We tried the small plates as appetizers - lamb chops and spanikopita - they were both delicious, most tender lamb I have ever had. We all had seafood for dinner. It's all fresh, on display when you come in. We couldn't... More

Although this is not on par with New York's best Greeks like Milos, it is a great location and the space is large, well-designed, and airy. It makes for a very relaxing dinner. I assumed there are times when it is crowded but when we went last night, Wednesday, it was well attended but not overwhelming. It was a terrific... More

Went last night to Thalassa, a Greek restaurant in Tribeca. Had a Living Social voucher which was going to expire very soon. Was greeted pleasantly by the Hostess, who showed us the fresh fish on display. Very nice decor with spacious seating (tables were set apart to give you privacy). Although there were many items on the regular menu I... More

My wife and I recently hosted a party for 100 friends at Thalassa. The space was elegant and ample for a party of this size. Our guests were comfortable whether they were on couches, sitting at tables, or on the dance floor. The manager, Tasso, was knowledgeable and very responsive. The food was excellent, the drinks were fun, and the... More

Cozy environment, excellent food (we order lavraki-fish). The prices correspond to the quality of the food. It gives you the option for the weekly menu in better price. Definitely a nice choice for Greek food in New York

We had a staycation and went into the city for the day. Walking around looking for a place to have a glass of wine and light snacks. This place is so beautiful and spacious. The comfortable seats at the bar, the pita, spreads and olives make you feel very welcome! The grilled octopus, mussels and beet salad are all delicious!... More

Staying in TriBeCa

Neighbourhood Profile
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighbourhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighbourhood home.
