A favorite watering hole for many of the legendary residents of the Chelsea Hotel, El Quixote still serves great Spanish seafood, including paella and lobsters.

We had green sauce and garlic sauce dishes that were the best I ever had. Get there quickly because I heard that it is closing soon. Loved it!!

With the closing of Centro Vasco, a block away,my favorite Spanish place for great lobster,El Quijote now stands alone. Very good lobster, nice service, a little too pricey but still a very good place.

Another delightful visit last night. I love this venerable Spanish institution - retro elegant charm and authentic Iberian cuisine. A lot of places advertise "tapas" these days. El Quijote has been ding real tapas before most people knew what they were. This is THE place...More

We’d read a lot of decent reviews so we gave it a shot. We’ve had lots of outstanding paella before and we would call this disappointment more flavoured rice than paella. The seafood in the paella however was cooked perfectly. The red wine sangria was...More

Read about this "iconic" Spanish restaurant in Chelsea so had to give it a try- little hard to find right now since there is scaffolding all over the front. Very cozy inside with a very large selection of paella's, their specialty seeming to be with...More

The first clue that the meal would be mediocre came with the bread, which looked like the sort of bread they serve in Spain but tasted nothing like that. I think it came from a bakery somewhere in Manhattan a few days prior and had...More

I agree, that's something you'd need to check with the restaurant. The paella dishes are rice based, but there might be flour or cornstarch to thicken some of their delicious sauces.
