It was a cold day, and we're looking for something warm and hearty for lunch. As we passed by, we smelled something delicious. We walked in, and found a wide variety of soups. All made on the premises. Each of us ordered a different one and shared. All soups are served with bread or crackers. Fresh made salads are also... More

This is the place to go on a dreary or cold day. Their soups are a bit unusual in that they have real taste that is authentic. And complex in some cases. The baked potato with bacon and the vegetable soup are wonderful. They also have very nice salads and have recently opened more outlets around town. Not cheap but... More

We loved the great taste of the variety of soups available. We couldn't help but eat here several times to try a different soup or sandwich. When a sandwich wasn't available from the display then it was made fresh for us! Yum!!

Very quick service. Very small place with a limited number of seat, but they turn quickly. Two large soups and a coke was $16.00 which is cheap for the quality.

If you're looking for a great soup and salad option this is the place. Hale and Hearty are pretty consistent across locations. This one has been my go-to spot for a quick lunch or light dinner while in NYC.

I love soup generally, so I was half sold on this before I even went in. They have a great variety of soups on the menu and a changing daily special. I've tried the curry chicken, and the seafood chowder (or bisque). Both very tasty. I only wish they were open later on a weekend (only until 6pm on a... More

Very impressed with the variety on offer and value too - well worth a lunchtime stop. Lots of soups and salads with veg choices and quite healthy too.

I fancied soup and a salad to take back to my hotel room so popped in here and joined the queue. It was split into two, one fir salads and one for sandwiches and soups. As I wanted both I opted for the shorter of the two. As I got closer I realised I couldn't order salad from the sandwich... More

There are such a variety of hearty sanwiches and soups here. Great if you are in a rush and want a good hearty lunch or soup.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
