Went here for a disappointing dinner. The service is lousy, the ambience is poor, the food is just okay and overpriced. There is much better Japanese food on the UES.

We met up with a New York friend and he promised to take us to one of his favourite restaurants, which I'm pretty sure when he was discussing it with us referred to it as a sushi bar. It is much much more than a...More
A neighborhood gem. Small spot with excellent service. A spot we would enjoy when back in NYC. Fresh fish and nice assortment of options. Order for yourself or share, which was what we did.

We like this haru better for ambience. they have a large outside area and a nice inside space. great bar and good food. service can be spotty at times but usually is great. can get a little pricey and sometimes you want more.
Ever have Frozen fish on a stick? The sushi was ICE. Hard as a rock. At first I thought it was a joke. The Mc Donalds of Sushi on the UES. This is a shame that people think this is what Japanese food is. Go...More

Haru has very good sushi. It's not what you'll get at some (very) upscale sushi places, but it's very solid. The thing that sets this location apart from the others is the added energy from the sake bar. We sat next to some rowdy teenagers...More
