A perfectly good high-end restaurant, but not the exceptional experience one would have expected. Perhaps the line cooks for lunch service aren’t as on their game as the dinner service? Or maybe 2024 has taken its toll on the restaurant? Or maybe a tasting menu...experience would’ve been better than our 3 course prix fixe? Or maybe Eric Ripert is merely phoning it in? But there’s no excuse for overcooked Dover sole at Le Bernardin… The amuse-bouche was fantastic. The dessert and petit four were fantastic. We found the service to be uncomfortably attentive; our romantic lunch for two felt like a third person was constantly present, maybe due to the way our lunch was rushed (we started at 12:15; we were done shortly after 1). Maybe they mistook the two of us for a business lunch?More

Beautiful restaurant, excellent service. The desserts were delicious. The fish dish was good but the appetizer was not good and not edible (grilled octopus). For that reason I am only giving 3 stars.

Fabulous birthday lunch. Everything was perfect. The food was amazing. The sauces for the seafood were delicious and really enhanced the flavor. So much attention to detail. Desserts were a superb ending, Thank you for a special day!

Had been here several times years ago and twice recently in the past month. The restaurant has lost some of its lusternand appeal and I believe it is attributable to several small, but imprtatnt details. First of, the food, while commendable, is not quite up...to the new heights est by many new restaurants that have come on the scene. Anything memorable? not really. I was somewhat disappointed by the Dover sole, which was good, but that is not what I expected. The service needs a tune up. There were times I felt that we were being rushed and there were times when I felt we were being ignored. I know these are "feelings" but 3 stars should never make you feel that way. Without dragging out minutia I just believe there are better places from a price/ performance perspective.More

Too large a room and for an expensive set menu, too rushed. Cooking was good especially the vegetables. Waiter was too frenetic but an excellent sommelier.

Our hobby is great restaurants, and we looked forward to Le Bernardin for two years. Could not get in the first time, but our hotel was able to get us in at 5:30 on a Wednesday. Normally, this would not be acceptable, but if it...was such an outstanding experience, we were willing to go. From the very beginning — ordinary interior circa 1990 — the host seated us at a table in the middle of the dining room, assuring us we could not have a table on the outside as it only seated larger parties. We are in the restaurant business so accepted that. 1 1/2 hours later, a two party was seated at the table we wanted. Fine. But the rest of the experience was colored by this. The food was definitely a fair, nothing special. But the service for a Michelin was shockingly bad . Hurried, taking our plates away as fast as we could finish. The last course and our expensive, celebration wine served and described by the busser, not the server. The server did not bother to come back until delivering the check. A major disapointment compared to other Michelin 3-star restaurants we have been to. Will never come back. Save your money for better places.More

Le Bernardin is the worst Michelin-starred restaurant we experienced. Tap water in a glass bottle charged more than $50, however, the water price never presents on the drinking menu. No matter the tap water is expensive or not, if needs charges, at least put on...the menu with price. We, two people spend more than $50 to pay that water. Feel so upset.More

We don't need to talk about it, everyone can cook excellently at this level. Even here it was far too much (we had the chef's menu), simple-minded: fish with consommé and the sole (looked like a pizza slice) was simply tasteless. For us, the decisive...criterion is the atmosphere in the restaurant and we clearly expected more. We should have been suspicious when the seats were taken several times. The courses were lovelessly presented in quick succession. The accompanying wines were presented better until the sommelier changed, but experimental wines and fortified wines at the end is not what we expected in a classical French restaurant. Even little things like the promised wine list at the cloakroom were not honoured. For us, never again.More

Just returned from a trip to NYC and were lucky enough to get a reservation at Le Bernadin. It was exquisite. Of course the food was exceptional - but it was made even more special by the amazing service. Absolutely second to none. Just incredible...service… cannot praise the team enough. Wonderful experience!More

We chose Le Bernardin to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. A longtime desire to dine here was met with unfortunate disappointment. It could be that our expectations were too high (doubtful), of perhaps they were having an off night (unlikely), but of the dozens of...Michelin Starred dining experiences, this was among our worst. First, the service is overly pretentious and largely inattentive. The entire tasting menu experience felt rushed and servers seem to have little pride or enjoyment in the experience. Second, the food does not live up to the standards of a 3 Michelin star restaurant (we’ve dined at several others). Notable, we have several well known restaurants with fewer or no stars that deliver a better culinary experience. As a seafood forward menu, I expect these dishes to shine. The stars of the entire menu though were the amuse bouche and the desserts. The sea bass was overcooked and dry. Though the Dover sole was well prepared, the flavors were flat and muted. The halibut was bland and almost flavorless. There are multiple notices about dress code for diners. We watched a young man with sweat pants and a hoodie welcomed and seated while asking his female guest to wear jacket since her very nice dress was sleeveless. With all the restaurants in NYC, we recommend taking the money you would spend here and go to two or three other places that will give a better culinary and service experience. In full disclosure, this review was sent to the restaurant before posting publicly. We never received a response.More

I’ve dined here previously and wanted to entertain my daughter and granddaughter for my daughter’s 39th bday. We had a lovely meal and the service was excellent. However, we were seated next to the wait station where the empty and clean plates were taken. Quite...honestly, for the price point of this restaurant I was disappointed. We had a gaggle of waitstaff near our table the entire meal. It was disconcerting and unlike my previous experience with this lovely restaurant. I don’t know that I’d go back. I’ve had better experiences in NYC.More

I’ve been to NYC many times, and have always wanted to eat here. I am a lover of fine restaurants and excellent food, and obviously Eric Ripert is known to be one of the best. My family were kind enough to indulge my long awaited...wish to eat here, and Le Bernardin did not disappoint! Enough cannot be said about the staff, and the elegant way that they present all of the dishes with such care. You might expect a stuffy restaurant experience - I didn’t find this to be the case. Yes it is fine dining, but it is more elegant and warm, than stuffy. I found the servers and staff to be a nice blend of professionalism, attentiveness, warmth, and care. And, of course, the food! It was simply excellent. We really enjoyed having such a large amount of options to choose from for the 4-course dinner as well. An experience worth waiting for, and a memorable one it was!More

We tried out the lunch menu. A good way to get an insight into the cuisine at Le Bernardin. There was quite a large selection of dishes for the 3-course menu. That made me a little skeptical at first. However, the dishes were very good...and the seafood and fish in particular were of excellent quality. They were rather plainly prepared but the excellent products meant that this didn't bother us. The large tasting menu probably offers a little more variety and creativity. One star is deducted because the price for what was on offer was quite high by international standards. Nevertheless, the lunch menu is a great way to sample Eric Ripert's excellent cuisine.More
