Popped out of MoMa for a quick lunch. This was a short walk away down 54th Street. Great value hot and cold buffet for $7. Plus chilled upstairs eating space with relaxing music.

After spending a lot on breakfasts elsewhere we found Smilers on the last morning of our stay. We wish we had found it sooner! The breakfast was tasty and around a third or so of the price of other diners. It had a wide range of food made fresh to order and a lunch buffet which looked excellent. It was... More

I can only review their signage -- which must be horrible -- because with the address in hand, we found lower and higher numbers on 7th but never the deli.

I usually stay in midtown when visiting NYC at very nice hotels (the London, Omni etc) but I have a hard time paying twenty two bucks for some eggs and another six for OJ. I walk down the block to Smilers... egg bacon and cheese on a roll, coffee and some tropicana. Nine bucks. They have good fresh fruit and... More

At this little shop, you walk through quickly and choose from the buffet. It's currently 9.95 per pound or thereabouts. Offered are numerous salads. I had corn salad, arugula salad, and a kale salad. Meats include everything from shrimp to lamb and beef. The rare beef was exceptionally tender and smokey tasting-- I think it was sirloin tip roast. You... More

This should get no stars at all. I work nearby and every time I say let me go try again and see if it is just me. I always regret it. I leave with a bad impression every time. The cook has the worst attitude. It's as if I'm annoying him by placing my order with him. And it's all... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
