We were in the mood for pizza when we came across Sal's. I asked the blonde girl (hostess??) outside if it was ok to sit outside. She said we could sit there but couldn't order just a slice of pizza. Our feet were killing us so we sat down and planned to look over the menu and find something other... More

Bloody ho many miles we have walked to find Sal's as a special Italian typical pizzeria... We couldn't imagine such a mess, everything was disappointing from the size to the pizzas to the things floating over, the taste etc... a kind of discrete tourists trap and we ran into..

After walking from Battery Park to Little Italy with my family (2.5 year old and 5 year old) we built up quite the appetite. Little Italy can be a bit overwhelming with the various places to eat. After a quick online search Sal's kept coming up for great pizza. We walked straight to the back to find a great, warm,... More

It was New Years week and the city was busy. There were 4 of us. We went to many different Italian Restaurants, told the wait was long or went in to be seated and were treated like we were a bother and we left. We got to Sal's. The Host gave us a warm welcome, told us to come in... More

We shared a big Pizza at Sal's Little Italy after waiting in line for 10 minutes to be seated. The wait was worth it! The pizza was delicious, especially the dough! Definitely a recommended place for a pizza in Little Italy for a small price!

Good little restaurant, friendly staff and very good pizzas. It gets crowded but turnaround is fairly fast. If you're looking for the De Niro accent, that's the place to go! :-)

Place was packed when my wife and I arrived. It being our first time in little Italy I wanted to grab some slices to go. First I ordered two cheese slices to test the waters. They were popped in the oven and delivered piping hot. I paid $6 ($3 per slice) and ate outside. The pizza was outstanding! In fact... More

This is the third of fourth time I have visited Sal's. I started visiting them when they were down the street a bit on the corner. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30 and there was a wait for our party of 7. The food is worth the wait! From Pizza, to calzones to spaghettti & meatballs, our party... More

We wanted some quick New York pizza. They recommended their grandma's pizza and it definitely was amazing!! 2 slices and 2 waters for $12 wasn't bad either!!! Good find!

Since 1982, Sal's Little Italy has remained same family owned and operated and well known as the home of the famous deep fried calzone. Our family also proudly serves classico Neapolitan NY style pizzas and Italiano comfort food in our Little Italy, NYC, pizzeria and restaurant. Our establishment, moved to the corner of Mulberry and Broome Streets in 2012, is a pizzeria in front with a 60 seat casual dining set in exposed brick with a TV, is located behind the pizzeria.

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
