Al Bustan is a large, elegant restaurant. It has an extensive menu of Lebanese specialties - all very good. The service is attentive. Surprisingly it was not very busy - at least on a week night. My only complaint - no regular coffee.

COCKROACHES UNDER OUR TABLE. Yes, you read that right- and yes, it was plural. We started the night with high hopes, as we saw this restaurant on Michelin's Bib Gourmand list. Unfortunately, our hopes were the only high point of this experience. We made reservations for 8:15, and showed up within the minute. Not only were we not greeted, but... More

Found this gem last week in NYC. They had some very authentic food including several choices of Kibbeh. We chose (see pics) the Kibbeh Nayyeh which was lamb here (most places I go it's beef). It was fresh and served with plenty of onion and mint. Quite refreshing and just melted in my mouth. I had the quail for my... More

Tried this restaurant for a taste of Mid East or specifically Lebanese food. They offered a "quick lunch" which suited by time parameter. Very nice. Too much food! Liked the appetizer varieties0 a green salad, babaganouche, humus and some other red item, plus fallafal.Tasty. Meal itself, a skewered beef with veggies and rice, was more than I could handle. Dessert... More

From my experience with this restaurant, the staff are cheating their customers by forcing unreasonable tips in the receipts. The food is so expensive and does not worth the set prices. Also, the staff and manager of the restaurant were so unfriendly when we started discussing the forced tips. So, I encourage everyone to avoid this restaurant.

I was at Al Bustan earlier this week. We had a noon appointment and got there a little early. So I called and spoke to an old'ish gentleman who came over and let us in and seated us immediately. We ordered a glass of the house Lebanese wine, clearly that wine had been 'breathing' a while. Not quite rancid but... More

Al Bustan was not at all crowded on a Saturday night, even so we were sat between two other occupied tables while 3/4 of the Resturant was empty. Service was good and attentive with tap water (in addition to bottled offered) a reasonable red wine from Lebanon. My main was the lamb with okra which was excellent. I also tried... More

We waited for 15 min after ordering some simple starters (Hummus and Tabbula salad). I asked to see the owner, who initially said it takes 15 min because they prepare everything fresh! Clearly not truthful and when I said I didn't believe him, he apologised and said "kitchen staff had gone for lunch themselves!" To his credit, he brought us... More

This place is a jewel. The food is incredibly good (maybe too much). The hospitality is gracious. The wines from the Bekaa Valley -- strife in the region notwithstanding -- are extraordinary. Rhone blends that are on a par with the best of Paso Robles and more approachable when young than comparable French wines. A little off the beaten track... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
