Small restaurant along 2nd avenue. Good, inexpensive dishes. Noodles, curries, rice, soups. Adequate bar. Open air window on warm days and evenings. Closes around 11PM.

Respectable Thai restaurant with reasonable prices and enjoyable food. The curry was well balanced, not too spicy and not too bland, but the vegetables weren't cooked enough. They have a good drink selection, including bottles of Beer Lao, which can be harder to come across.

I was in the area for a Sunday Matinee at the nearby New York Theatre Workshop and was roaming the streets for a place for a pre-theatre lunch when I saw this restaurant. They have a great lunch combo menu which with my spring rolls, salad and entree was a ton of food at a reasonable price (for New York... More

I had dinner at Thailand Cafe tonight, eating at the bar since I was dining alone. I like the venue, especially if dining solo. The place was small and quaint without too much noise or loud music. The bar was great, with the bartender /waitress being very personable and customer focused. The food was good, not great. I order a... More

Amazing atmosphere, phenomenal service, exquisite and zesty food. This is a restaurant I've been to on many occasions and it always carries with it a cozy and trendy vibe! The food is overwhelmingly succulent with rich spices and impeccable flavor all which do the Thai menu justice. My personal favorite is the drunken noodles with hot sake! :D The staff... More

In the 90s, I lived on 2nd Avenue in Manhattan. Back then, we didn't have Thailand Cafe - and I wish we had! It is a decent Thai restaurant with good prices. In fact, when we were there they were doing a deal where if you checked in on Facebook with a photo, you got 10% off your meal. And... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
