After a while you start to dread some of the food you're served at charity galas and dinners. Thankfully this place bucked the rubber chicken trend, although there was chicken. We started off with a portobello mushroom tartare. Quite good and creative. The chicken was tasty, not overcooked, and came with quinoa, carrots, and a light and nice sauce. The... More

Food and service was very good. The meat was wonderful. The venue is very pretty and not overwhelming. The walk there from NoMo SoHo past Chinatown vendors was part of the fun.

We recently attended a NY Food and Wine Festival Event at Capitale. It was a beautiful space located in the Bowery on the edge of Chinatown. Originally built in 1893 the space has been host to many things (including a bank) and retains its original Beaux Arts decorations. With the high ceilings the sound does tend to echo, perhaps a... Went to a buddy's wedding at Capitale, and all I can say it was amazing! The whole event was at Capitale. Cocktail hour, the wedding, reception/buffet snacks, full seated dinner, dancing, drinking, band, the whole evening in one location. The venue was spectacular, and I was amazing at the ease they shifted from each portion of the evening to the... More

We went to the wedding of a family member yesterday and everything from start to finish was fabulous-from the ceremony to the cocktail hour and buffet and then the reception sit down dinner and music. The food was outstanding. The interior of this venue was spectacular. When you first walk inside the very high ceilings and columns make this the... More

We attended the New Year's Eve party at Capitale with a group of 6 and were excited for the huge party and ponied up a considerable sum for it, looking forward to the "top shelf" drinks, "sick beats", and "white glove affair". We were to be disappointed in all of these respects. Now I believe that the event was staffed... More

Attended a wedding here. I can't imagine a more majestic indoor setting for a wedding. This building was completed in 1895 as the main branch of the Bowery Savings Bank. Designed by Stanford White the premier architect of that era. You will be in awe of the pink Sienna marble columns soaring to the ceiling high above. Despite the age... More

This place is a gorgeous venue for a cocktail party and dinner. I went to an awards dinner there recently. With its unbelievably high ceilings and great architectural detail, this place is a stunner. It used to be a bank, I think, and is a wonderful example of re-purposed space. It has that nowhere-but-in-NYC feel to it. The catered food... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
