Three weeks ago my granddaughter and I ate lunch at Il Riccio after my husband had been rushed to the emergency room at Lenox Hill Hospital (we're from Seattle) and we needed a respite and asked a local lady for a recommendation. We walked in and the surroundings and demeanor of the staff was welcoming, and I found my shoulders... More

This old line Italian restaurant has a very comforting feeling of a restaurant on the Amalfi Coast with many reminders of the area. The staff was very welcoming, well informed and very attentive. Cleanliness was quite good including the men's room. We were very disappointed in the food, however. The complimentary bruschetto was quite good, and delicious bread. We shared... More

You might walk right by this unpretentious restaurant without noticing it. But it is outstanding. In food quality and service. A reasonably priced jewel. Thank you.

We had the pleasure of dining here on Christmas Eve. What a perfect ending to a lovely evening. The food is spectacular and the service just perfect. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and wine excellent. Can't praise this restaurant enough. Next time we are in NY, this is our go to place.

We have a residence on the UES and for some years Il Riccio was one of our go to restaurants, featuring an almost bewildering list of "specials", a very gracious service, a nice wine list and quite enjoyable food. Then things went downhill, and it became average and below our expectations. Thus it was with pleasure that we returned a... More

Outstanding white fish with lemon sauce and an incredible tiramisu for dessert! A great meal accompanied by lovely Italian White Wine from the Amalfi Coast. We were with friends and enjoyed a great conversation in a quiet, pleasant setting as well as having wonderful food. Would definitely return again!

What a pleasant surprise. Visited Il Riccio for dinner this week and were delighted to learn that they were pouring Barolo and Brunello by the glass. Love the Barolo. The grilled salmon and grilled branzino were perfect - as always.

My wife and I had dinner here early on a Tuesday night in the summer, The food was great and so was the service. I especially liked the complementary bruschetta...just fantastic tomato and olive oil taste. The place was, admittedly, not crowded, so I can't say what it would be like on a busy night. BTW, there is a back... More

It's a lovely little restaurant. Very nice service but the food is really not at all memorable. In our party of 6, 3 had the same meal and each had different feedback ( one too dry and one too saucy).

We tried to go to Candle 79 next door, but it was packed, so we tried Il Riccio, which is right next door. Good quality homemade Italian food, and very sweet decor. We had gluten free penne, linguini with clams, and homemade ravioli, all very good. Fun waiters!

Description
A favorite neighborhood restaurant for those in the know. Not only is the food good but the people-watching is terrific. Our warm friendly staff welcomes locals like Henry Kissinger, Ralph Lauren and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg plus assorted Upper East Side beauties. Specializing in the fabulous flavors of the Amalfi coast, selections include delicious risottos, osso bucco, specialty pasta, as well as more exotic fare like roasted lamb garnished with balsamic vinegar and rosemary. Delectable home made desserts along with an extensive wine list. Soft hand-painted ochre colored walls, sensually sweet background music and attentive service provide a memorable dining experience at this distinctively chic restaurant.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
