There was a large group of us of assorted ages so my friend thought that Sammy's would be the perfect night out. It's a crazy place, the food is heavy on the meat and carbs served family style, but certainly don't go there for the...More

I arrived at 7:30 to an 80% empty restaurant. I was told they couldn't seat me because they had a seating at 8:30....I assured him I could be out in hour! NOPE sorry..40% of their reviews are negative and so deserved.

We were in town from Chicago visiting our daughter. My husband had been to Sammy's over 20 years ago and really wanted to share the experience with our family. We had a table of eight with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, our two daughters, and New York...More

`Entering Sammy's is like walking into a BarMitzvah in a basement,' says the website of Dani Luv, the entertainer who's worth going to the restaurant for, even if you don't eat. We started with Karnatzlack (and pickles, peppers, bread and chicken fat), followed by Romanian...More

Another awesome experience at Sammy's for my 50th birthday. As always, Dani is great entertainment. Serving staff is friendly, efficient and wonderful. The atmosphere is old-style, but kept that way on purpose. I couldn't imagine a trip to New York without Sammy's.

Let stepping into a time zone in a basement. Decor is schmaltzy as is the food. The vodka flows like water and you'll have a blast.

Lots of fun and Lots of food. You should go with a group. This is not your grandparent's Sammy's though the place hasn't changed much if any in decades. Was nice to see plenty of younger people having fun and clogging their arteries. We were...More

This is somewhere that was on my husbands bucket list and it didn't disappoint him. Authentic Jewish eating that took him back to his childhood. Great place to walk to after the tenement

How much time would you recommend spending here? I read one review that cited "3 hours of fun" and am trying to figure out the rest of our schedule for the evening. Thanks!

I agree with the previous reviewer who said to allow a total of two hours (if you make it that long). Three hours is a possibility if it's a particularly good crowd or you just happen to be having fun.
