Amazing cornbread. Hefty portions. Good red velvet, they put walnuts on top which isn't common. Mac and cheese isn't earth shattering but it is good. The waffles though were great and you could tell they were freshly made. I had the Sunrise drink which has lemonade, orange juice and fruit punch to make a sunrise in a cup. It was... More

Gluttonously delicious. I really don't have anything bad to say about Amy Ruth's. I have eaten here twice now and each time, I leave dreaming about my next visit. There was a member of my party that is Gluten Free and there were not many choices but she was able to find something. This restaurant basically does fried chicken and... More

It had been over 10 years since I had visited this restaurant...it had been over eight years since the definitive piece of Red velvet cake had eluded me. But before we get to that, let me start with how things have changed at Amy Ruth's. The place is bright and welcoming--there are beautiful murals all over the wall, of famous... More

Stopped here as our first port of call on an exploratory trip of Harlem. Food good and waiting staff very pleasant and helpful. We were actually later in the day recommended (by a local) to try another restaurant further north (the Edge - I think on 139th?). We didn't but maybe look that up too?

Absolutely loved this place! Staff were brilliant, food was amazing and the price was reasonable. This was a great find in Harlem. I have already recommended this place to friends and family who are visiting NYC and would definitely go back there if I was in the city. A must, when visiting Harlem

We had to wait just 15 minutes, even if the cue was so long when we arrived. The food is incredible: authentic southern tastes, macaroni & cheese were wonderful but the best was the waffle and fried chicken! Incredible!

Such good, authentic food. I have taken New Yorkers and tourists there to their delight. The food is good and feels authentic. Doggy bags are available and warranted but more when I bring locals rather than tourists. I know it's the right place when we seem to be the only tourists/whites there. Going there on a Sat night felt different... More

A bit off the usual tourist track, the subway to and from Harlem perplexed us more than the rest of the trains. But Amy Ruth's is worth getting lost for. We queued for a little while outside and were ushered upstairs to a dining room with a real community vibe and some charming, if slightly sketchy, murals. The most reasonably... More

Amy Ruth's is a relaxed/casual restaurant which can get quite busy on weekend nights with people coming into the restaurant for dinner and with others picking up food that had been pre-ordered. I decided to place an order to go which was the Ruby Dee (catfish). My meal consisted of two sides and I decided on trying the string beans... More
