The was one of the better Indian buffets that we've had, served in a delightful space. We're from out of town now, so haven't been to this place before, but it's certainly on our list of places we'd like to return to.

This review is for the Brick Lane Curry House located on 235 East 53rd Street, which is part of the same restaurant group... Several years ago, my wife was visiting her friend in NY and went to Brick Lane Curry House. She has the fish moilee and became obsessed. At every subsequent Indian restaurant she would ask if they had... More

Brick Lane is a gorgeous restaurant with a wide variety of unique offerings. It's mostly your typical Indian fare, but definitely on a more upscale side...which is clearly reflected in the prices. My friend and I had an early dinner here, so we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our server was quiet, polite and attentive. He was great... More

So just moved to the NJ area and i think i have found my favorite Indian Restaurant. Small but great service and food. CTM and Lamb Bhuna hit the mark! Wine delivered from the nearby store is a Montclair thing but such a nice touch!

We found this restaurant on TripAdvisor and gave it a shot. We're big Indian food fans and enjoy it spicy. The food here was excellent! Great atmosphere in the East Village and a comfortable restaurant. We had a basic meal of Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo and Bindi Masala and all were delicious! Generous portions with the perfect balance of... More

We had previously been to the Brick Lane in Ridgewood with my friend was fancies himself a spicy food aficionado. The Phaal there wasn't that hot and bland, so we made sure the next time he was in town we booked the real downtown location. First, for us not crazy enough to do the challenge, the lunch buffet was great.... More

This place has several locations in the city. I like this uptown location best. With patience, a nearby parking spot can be found and the folks around 92nd Street are less pretentious than downtown. The faire is Indian traditional with British Indian influence. I went for the buffet and was nearly overwhelmed with good choices.

For anyone used to British Indian Restaurant food then you'll be disappointed as this is more akin to meals prepared with sharwoods or pataks cook in sauces. It's very much caters towards the American palate, very little spice, more sweet & tangy. Naan breads however were excellent. For anyone of my compatriots looking for a curry fix then I'd advise... A trendy Indian-British restaurant with a few great classics. You may order some very hot food (phaal, be aware, this is really powerful). Brick lane Curry House also features a full bar and craft draft beers, which is not always the case in Indian restaurant. Enjoy!

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
