Small gem. Neighborhood place with interesting but not outrageous menu. Excellent quality and food prices just right. Nice crowd and you can actually talk and hear at the table. Just a perfect place for good food, conversation and a "we need to go back" vibe.

A group of friends and I made early reservations here for a birthday celebration. It was a great idea, as we can't stop talking about our time there. The wine list was well-rounded, with nice options in most categories. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The cocktail menu is creative without being precious. And then: the food! The truffled... More

Very good food, excellent atmosphere on a very well located American bistrô. Specially good after a walk on the high line, toasting with a nice beer.

Visited this 'High Line' local last night, warm atmosphere with red painted boards on the wall. Superior service and solid but fairly priced wine list. Food excellent, three of our party had skirt steak which was wonderful. Zucchini appetizer lovely also. Very recommendable spot. Will resist....

Enjoyed light, late lunch here. Excellent food. Nice trendy ambiance. The service was a little spotty although it wasn't a particularly busy time. Able to hold conversation without any noise problem. Would try it again.

We were a group of four and the check amounted to $400 - roughly $100 per person which included 2 bottles of wine and we ordered a lot of food. For appetizers we ordered french fries, a Brussel sprout salad, filet carpaccio, fried zucchini, steak tartare and salmon crudo. The steak tartare was hands down the best and the fries... More

Enjoyable dining experience. It's cozy and inviting because it's dimly lit. The restaurant was full but we could converse easily, without having to shout. Service was professional and on point, never obtrusive. We started with lentil soup, roasted local beets (delicious) and calamari...all good. Mains were calves liver, skirt steak, ravioli and duck breast...all nicely done. Prices were reasonable; would... More

In a city where competition between restaurants focuses on celebrity chefs and celebrity diners, Redcat stands out heads above many of its peers in what truly counts: exceptional food, professional and attentive service, pretty atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Everything was consistently outstanding, with this being my 4th visit since the beginning of the year. I had the grilled zucchini as... More

Wife and I dined here last night. Very pleased with everything from the decor to the service to the cuisine. This is a modest sized restaurant...not massive and not so small that you are sitting elbow to elbow with fellow diners. I also found it quiet enough to talk without yelling. As we were settling in, the diners next to... More

Description
This Old Chelsea food hall is a New York original. The Red Cat's combination of come-as-you-are sensibilities and straightforward, satisfying, and occasionally irreverent cuisine instantly establish the restaurant as a favorite with New York diners. As Frank Bruni wrote in the New York Times, "The Red Cat feels vaguely colonial and tavern like, except when it feels downtown-gallery cool, and apart from those moments when it feels modestly and eclectically elegant." If you are unable to book online, please call us directly and we will do our best to accommodate you.
