Dim sum lunch hit the spot! We lucked out because we did not experience a wait for food that some of the other reviews mentioned, even on a Saturday! As soon as we were seated several carts came by, and they continued to at regular intervals. Additionally, customers can walk up to a station where workers were preparing certain fried... More

Last weekend was another Dim Sum outing. There were 5 of us and we had a good time. The Dim Sim carts made its way slowly but when it came, we ordered a lot! The Dim Sum were pretty good. We order the typical beef chow fun and seafood chow mein. No complaints there as well. The atmosphere? It could... More

I was yearning for some proper dimsum, and 88 Palace delivered. I found the dimsum to be quite alike the original Hong Kong type, and has not undergone much alteration to suit the Western palate. It wasn't too expensive as well - the two of us ate a hearty meal for under $30. The restaurant staff serves up the food... More

88 Palace is a Dim Sum breakfast restaurant in Chinatown which is located on the second floor and super packed with many rooms. The service is slow as there are usually hundreds of people eating at one time. The wait service comes to your table with food carts that you make your choices. The food is charged by the number... We had breakfast here today with friends! The food was authentic (we believe) and super yummy! We tried things that normally we might not and we were happy we did! We can't say for sure what we ate, but we did love the experience and the food!

We think shu mai, baked pork buns, etc improved over a few years ago, but the prices have gone up. That has not discouraged people from coming. Very busy any day after 11am in my experience

88 Palace is a perfect place for a lunch time dim sum break. Old fashioned carts with a large variety of dim sum move around the dining room. Even though we were a little late for lunch, we had the most delicious har gow (shrimp dumplings). My husband enjoyed the chicken feet. Our table mates were a young high school... More

Go under the Manhattan Bridge and you'll find it on the top floor of the mall. You will also find some of the best dim sum you will ever have. In fact, when I lived in town, I made it a point to bring all friends and family who came to visit me to try it out. Minds were blown.... More

88 Palace is located on the 2nd floor in a shopping mall type building under the Manhattan Bridge. Can be hard to find. Arrive between 11:30 and 1:30 and witness a sea of chaos in an elegant dining room with lots of carts filled with wonderful Chinese dishes. You can get your fill for cheap!

This is a true Chinese experience. It is located under the Manhattan Bridge on the 2nd floor of a Chinese style mall at 88 East Broadway. It is out of the tourist area of Chinatown and where the "locals" go for Dim Sum. It is a very large room filled with tables occupied with mostly Chinese families. . . .... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
