I have been coming to this little slice of Provence situated the Village for years. It is such a warm, cozy & charming place to have leisurely meal and people watch through the large front windows on Macdougal Street just south of Washington Square. It is high time I reviewed my old friend. The restaurant just oozes French countryside warmth... More

Chez Jaqueline is on the edge of Greenwich Village but looks like it's plucked from a village in France. It's not large but comfortable. The food is good. I had the chicory salad and it was tasty. The beef was good. But the sautéed spinach side sounded better than it was.

It's hard to mess up French food but this place does it! For starts 3 of the 4 things we ordered from the menu were not available. I ended up ordering a fish dish I couldn't even finish. It's a pity the food is so bad because the ambience is really nice. I'm not going back!

A welcoming small bistro feel with nice food and specials that don't break the budget. Friendly service.

My husband, teenaged (foodie) son and I wandered around the Village for a while looking for a restaurant for dinner on Saturday. Maybe we chose Chez Jacqueline because it looked nice and quiet, but the food and service were great. We had the duck, the trout amandine and the daube nicoise -- all of them very nicely prepared. We had... More

A very good onion soup followed by garlicky escargot. Côte du Rhone was earthy and good. Pleasant service. Local favorite by the sounds of chatter. We saw several folks from the Film Forum four or five blocks away.

Dined here with a friend while in NYC and she selected this restaurant for dinner. We had a great time! We were seated at a table by the window which was just so nice considering it was a gorgeous summer evening. But it was the service that made this place so special. Our server was so helpful - she made... More

If you want a special, unhurried and relaxed place to dine, here it is in Greenwich Village: the food is superb; the service not merely friendly but warm and gracious, and the atmosphere relaxed. Every time we eat there, we cannot wait to go back. This is the place we take our friends for a special ocassion and they are... More

We ate here on a Living Social voucher. They treated us great. The food was very good, the ambience was nice. We ate on Halloween, one block from the Greenwich Village start of the parade, so there were definitely some characters running around. I'd recommend it. We enjoyed ourselves.

I thought this place was the best deal in town the first time I went there, and I am a New Yorker. I have now been to this place at least 10 times over the last few years and can attest that you get very tasty French food at an amazing value with the Groupon: 2 apps, 2 entrees, two... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
