I was staying in NYC for the weekend and Gee Whiz is just around the corner and I was hungry for breakfast. I ordered pancakes, crispy bacon and scrambled eggs. I was disappointed the bacon was very limp, but the pancakes and eggs were good. The coffee was good and LOVED their coffee cups - they held the spoon well... More

Very Good omelettes and sandwiches. This is a diner and should not be classified as a Greek restaurant. Good and quick for lunch.

We were glad we found this dinner. We had a good breakfast, great coffee and staff were always taking care of us. We were always on the run so we got there and we got our breakfast quick and no complaints. Great service.

I teach at Borough of Manhattan Community College so this place is my choice for dining, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is outstanding and reasonable for Manhattan. The waiters are excellent, friendly, accommodating, friendly, and wonderful. They will do anything to please. I have dined here perhaps 250 times and have never been disappointed. Their breakfasts are amazing!!

We were on our way downtown to visit a couple of the sights and we found it hard to find somewhere to get breakfast whatever wrong way to tuck getting out of the subway, a guy in an Irish bar recommended this place as he wasn't open yet. It has to be the single worst meal I have had in... More

After a visit to the nearby 911 Memorial and Museum, we were walking around the area trying to find a spot for lunch and came across the Gee Whiz. The restaurant was highly decorated with Halloween motif, and just looked fun and inviting, so in we went! This place has lots of food choices, and I opted for a selection... More

My first and last visit to this diner wasn't pleasant at all. I was here with my best friend, her sister and boyfriend. I have never been here before you would like at a diner I would get better service this what I receive. We had wanted the option of plastic utensils but I only received it which he could... More

Stopped in here due to good reviews and proximity (and we were starving!!). The food isn't badly priced but I've definitely had better for less. Though it's a local place it seemed quite touristy which put me off a bit. There were also loads of staff but we didn't get refilled drinks or particularly quick service.

We have been using Gee Whizz for the last 8 or so years. Was sorry to see it downsizing. Was happy to give them our business today, except the service wasn't the usual prompt, cheerful but basic diner service. Our server, Carlos (with a mohican), didn't seem very interested in serving us. He got our order wrong, didn't apologise, and... More

Neighbourhood Profile
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighbourhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighbourhood home.
