We did not make any reservation and had no problem getting a table. The front part of GE restaurant is the far area which was crowded. The dining area was not created. Very casual ambience. Service was good. Good menu. Reasonable pricing. Food was good with decent portions.

We stopped in mid-afternoon on Saturday and sat at the bar. Loved the place, Had great Bloody Mary's - our bartender's great grandmother's recipe. Loved the tater tots topped with bacon and a side of pimento cheese. Also fell in crazy about the deviled eggs with chives and salmon caviar. Would have been happy to visit Live Bait every day.

What a great place. The staff there is amazing. The prices are fair. Their happy hour prices are tough to beat. Amazing food and a fun lively environment. Definitely one of the best bars in NYC.

The restaurant is a little dive. A good scrubbing would be great. The clam chowder and shrimp po boy were delicious. Fries were tasteless, fresh made would be so much better.

Food was okay and restaurant was very loud during lunch on a Friday. However, well worth the experience to be there again and reminisce about prior visits. Oysters on half shell were okay but not the best ever....small bits of shell in several. Very clean ladies' restroom!!!!

Nice evening place, interesting atmosphere and good food. Suitable for big companies. Not for a romantic dinner.

We kept passing this bar as it was round the corner from our hotel. Every evening it was packed, but we didn't realise until the last night of our stay that there are tables and booths at the back. Despite the slightly rundown looking exterior, this is a great place with fantastic seafood based American-style food (they do good veggie... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
