As part of ticking off the bucket list we visited the world famous bluenote jazz club. We booked a table which turned out to be two seats on a table for four as people are randomly seated together on tables. The venue operates a first...More

Don't purchase bar seats. There are only 10 and you must arrive at least 2-1/2 hours before the show to get into the queue. The rest of the bar seats are SRO and you will see nothing. That being said, the band was great (Chick...More

First and foremost I should say that this is primarily a jazz club and the music was excellent and really enjoyable. However, we encountered two issues which truly soured our evening experience. The first is that the service is very poor. Mistakes were made with...More

We visited the Blue Note for the Sunday Jazz brunch. The "New"Lionel Hampton band featuring Jason Marsalis was featured. It was truly a wondrous experience watching Jazz aficionados play with that level of experience and expertise which is almost a lost art. The brunch food was...More

The Blue Note is a famous jazz club, but we were underwhelmed. We were seated at a shared table (understandable) but there was really only 6" between tables, so it felt like a giant cafeteria table. It was incredibly uncomfortable. The Trio playing seemed to...More

I avoid this place when I can, however they do get some of the biggest and best jazz acts in. The door staff are somewhat rude and borderline in competence. The food is bad. The venue is extremely crowded and probably not safe in an...More

Blue note is as good as the current performance booked. We recently saw the Duke Ellington Orchestra which did not compare to Chris Botti performance in December (he was phenomenal). I would suggest eating elsewhere before or after as the food is mediocre. Seating is...More

It is one of the most popular and renowned jazz clubs in New York City. I've been there a couple of times. It is small so it is difficult to find a table, make reservation. The bar option is good, but very noisy. So if...More

Tonight's fantastic performance was world renowned trumpeter Chris Botti. You are packed-in like sardines but that's ok. It's a small intimate venue with a certain charm. Five of us ordered food and drinks with no regard to cost as we work hard and don't care...More

Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was
here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter
culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for
its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to
get a feel for this diverse and energetic
neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street
performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the
fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess.

There's Mermaid Oyster Bar around the corner from the Blue Note on MacDougal near Houston. It's pretty good, but I don't eat oysters.
