Accidentally stumbled upon this place when momofuku was too crowded. Loved it. Had a full Tokyo ramen and the waitress was very good at explaining the dish and also helping me navigate it. I'm not a ramen pro. Food was very fresh. One note: they only take cash so I had to visit an ATM next door. Fortunately, they did... More

This is a great ramen spot that's reminiscent of my time in Japan. It's a bit small and can be cramped but it's worth the wait for ramen. We were a group of 6 and it was very tight. It's also cash only. The ramen was pretty good. I had the cold dipping noodles, which was great. They have a... More

Tiny little shop located in Alphabet city (East Village) where I've had the best ramen of my life. Highly recommended for a casual launch / dinner (paying it's not packed)

I got a spicy ramen basic. The ingredients were fine, broth tasty and very spicy, but something wrong in the ensemble, kind of fast assembled, with very cold meat and egg, you have to wait a bit that things warms up. I had better ramen, even though it was not bad. Cheap unfiltered sake sold for high price. At the... More

We just wanted to have an early dinner that was quick and wanted some ramen. This has been recommended by locals, and I had the Minca Sio ramen, which had a chicken and pork broth with thin noodles as recommended by waitress. My wife had the Minca ramen, which was the same broth with soy. I found hers to be... More

I've not visited Minca for a VERY long time since they opened their sister restaurant Kambi on 14th street. Whilst I know the dishes are the same on both spots, I thought Minca felt like I was taken back to the small streets of Tokyo cramped inside a small space along the other locals slurping away on my ramen. The... More

Minca, a small, yet very good spot for all you ramen fans. Located in Alphabet City, do not let this small place deter you for eating here. They are simple and too the point, creating ramen that tastes great! Since the place is small, I would not recommend bringing parties of more than 5 (or maybe 6) here, since the... More

It's definitely in the top 5 for sure. 5 types of noodles and plenty of broth options. We ordered the Minca Shoyu Ramen bowl which is made using pork bone broth, mongolion salt and roast garlic flavor. To accompany the bowl you get negi, egg, bamboo, seaweed, pork belly, mushrooms and bonito. Thin noodles are what our bowls came with.... More

Decent ramen but far from the best in NYC. The broth and noodles were OK, but was disappointed that both the meat and the eggs in the ramen were cool in the middle and had clearly just been taken out of the fridge before being tossed into the bowl. One thing worth noting: we waited in line for about 20... More

Minca is a decent ramen house, and seems pretty traditional. There's a limited number of appetizers offered, but the gyoza was on point. The ramen is decent. Wasn't really a big fan of the spicy miso ramen, but the garlic shio tsukemen was delicious. The broth was concentrated, yet not overbearingly rich, and is probably the best I've had in... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
