The best dish we had last night were the Brussels sprouts. Roasted to crisp and doused in a flavour-full sauce. Five stars! Everything else was average and a bit pricey (apple kimchi - more apple than kimchi and requested the bacon on the side; the mackerel and oysters weren't remarkable and they were drowned in the ginger salad dressing -... The food is so good, so amazingly different, so tasty that you will have to restrain yourself in order to stay focus on not overeating. I will return as soon as possible. I recommend it without any , any, any hesitation. Order the Brussels sprouts or the sardines, or the pork, or the mushrooms, or...anything. You will be enchanted.

A friend insisted that we should go, so he took us there for lunch. I was skeptical about the whole Asian fusion whatever, but I must admit that I really enjoyed the whole meal. If you're new like I was, just let yourself go and try different things.

Ordered like 6 things off the menu - all were good, some outstanding. The duck dumplings, in particular, were the best thing I've tasted in the past month. Drinks were not stupidly priced. Great place to go on a date or when your parents are in town so you don't have to pay.

Man my buddy and I were super amped to check out this place out considering we are both Chefs. The food had decent flavor profiles to them its just you could have enough to actually be satisfied. I got the Ribs- really tasty but only had 2 per order like come on !! I would never do that ( David... More

While in New York after Christmas, our extended family ate an amazing dinner at Momofuku in the West Village. The atmosphere was great, wait staff, attentive, and the food, amazing. Each dish that came out was unique and remarkable on its own. Apparently, all the raving about David Chang is not exaggerated. The pork belly steamed buns were amazing --... More

Lunch at a busy time in the lead up to new year. Grateful to get a table for two, inside out of the chilly lower East side temp. Tables close and no coat check offered so snug seating. Staff attentive but still busy. Menu described as Asian/American fusion. We had pulled pork on sticky rice with little sides of lettuce... More

I guess I'm more of a pacific rim person. Seems like everything we had there was pretty heavy. I'm still belching up the sardine appetizer. I wouldn't of ordered it but the waiter said it was great. Again, just not my taste. Very heavy. Out of the eight dishes we all had, only the shrimp ceviche type was worth ordering... More

After seeing pics of their food on IG my friends just had to come here. Its a very small place thats supposedly always packed so a reservation is recommended. To make one you have to create an account and provide them with your credit card number. Then you have to pick what dish you want to eat there. If you... More

We were thrilled to be seated for lunch recently at the Momofuku Ssam Bar. We love Asian food, and looked forward to our NY trip for Chinatown and to try Momofuku. It was amazing, superlative, extraordinary--the BEST. We started with the pork buns and lentil/anchovy dip, followed by full plates of pork shoulder and duck with salad and pancake. Triple... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
