A hidden gem in Chinatown is what this downstairs, small, and I mean small Chinese restaurant is. We always go to WoHop 17whenever we visit NYC. Don't get the restaruant confused by another WoHop of the same name just a few doors down, the ground level one. No matter what you order, the food is always fresh and hot. We have... More

We came here with local friends, and this is a place I could recommend easily. It's not fancy, but its open late and its some of the best Chinese food I've had.

We went on a Monday night in January and encountered their very famous long line. We waited on Mott Street for 20 minutes and heard high praise from the other people waiting. The food was plentiful, I grant you that. The quality was not as high unfortunately. I will return for another try but with muted expectations. Bring cask as... More

There are frequently lines out the door, but waits aren't too bad. The staff is very friendly and a joy to be around. It is decorated very interestingly, but don't let its looks or the fact it is down in what would be considered basement space, deter you. The food is amazing! I have been here multiple times and love... More

We wanted to have a great experience in Chinatown and some NY locals recommended Wo Hop. It was downstairs off the street and a bit of a dive, but charming. The staff was very attentive and the eggrolls were huge! The food was typical Chinese, but the wonton soup was excellent!

This is your ultimate Chinese comfort food. All of the dishes are fantastic and the service is excellent. When my family and I think of NY chinese food... we think of this place. BTW, when you go here make sure that you are going to the Wo Hop that's downstairs. The Wo Hop City that's on street level is a... More

Visited Wo Hop in Chinatown NYC with group of friends and enjoyed excellent, authentic Chinese food. Our group ordered two different soups, sesame chicken, and chicken chow mein. And the homemade crispy noodles were wonderful! Highly recommend this restaurant and will return on our next visit!!

Great service - don't be put off by appearances. It's a little basement and rough round the edges but the welcome was warm and the food was scrumpy and great value.

I started eating here in the 1960's when a group of us used to take the train in from Rockaway or come after a concert at the Filmore. We also used to come here on dates where you could eat until you couldn't eat anymore and be given a check for $10.00. Of course the pricing has changed over the... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
