Dinner in East Village/ NYC. We always walk by this Ramen restaurant while getting Bubble Tea - so we've decided to stop in one evening. Restaurant is small, but has a large community table in the middle. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Definitely a good place for quick cheap eats.

Cute little place, perfect for cold days & a meal by yourself or with someone close to you. Incredibly friendly staff, great prices, yummy ramen. Other dishes I've tried here include buns, shrimp teriyaki, edamame and mango ice cream mochi. I would recommend their lunch deal because it gives you a variety of different specialties and is very tasty.

couldn't get in at Ippudo so tried this place around the corner. Spicy miso ramen was excellent. Super quick service,. Very authentic vibe. kaedama available.

Friendly service but relative slow, I don't know what can happen when the restaurant is crowded. We shared gyozas that were ok and I enjoyed my Rahmen. Probably all their dishes are adapted to the Western taste but hey, it is a cheap place, I don't expect more than I recieved. Nice place.

We went here on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Luckily, there was only a short line and we waited less than 20 minutes. This place is nothing fancy, which was ok with us, because it's the food that matters. We ordered two appetizers, which were wrapped in a bun - one had shrimp and the other I... More

My girlfriend ordered extra corn, paid 2$ for this and just got the equivalent of a teaspoon of corn... The broth didn't taste good, too mushroomy for us. If you like mushrooms you might like it but I had much better ramen broth in other places... I had a kind of pork ramen, what a joke, there was one single... More

God knows how many times I've been to this little place and got reminded what "comfort food" to me means. I'm very curious to prove its authenticity since I've never been to Japan. But if the only negative side is "the ramen in Japan is so much better" I'd take that as a compliment for this joint. Recommended to my... More

We've been to Setagaya a couple of times, and each time, the noodles were perfectly done (with the right "koshi" as the Japanese say, or "al dente" in Italian). We've had both the shoyu and the gyolu ramens. The former was fairly standard, the gyolu was a bit too fatty. Fatty is OK, but the oil should not be separating:... More

Looking for a good ramen place for a solo diner I came across Ramen Setagaya on St. Mark's Place. It had a wraparound bar style table around the walls of the restaurant which was perfect. I ordered the Miso Ramen. The benchmark of a good noodle soup to me is the broth, so I always start here. Unfortunately it was... More

I had ramen here recently with some friends. The ramen noodles were almost like the kind you get from an instant ramen package. Not sure why other reviewers gave this place high marks. The taste of the Ramen here was not authentic. I saw the sign that they had other locations in Japan. I think they changed the flavor because... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
