Excellent experience with memories of our visit in Tokyo. We enjoyed the hamachi sashimi, grilled bamboo shoots, warm tofu, flavored rice from a basket or pot, and the grilled oysters (large but seasoned well). Overall I would suggest the sashimi and grilled fish. The sake is quite good, perhaps a drier choice from the monthly features. The meal is spaced... More

My brother and I send at the counter and observed all of the action, all of the oishi action. Grilled veggies, fish, chicken - all very good. Tako tempura : great; ei (sea skate wing) : great; black cod : very good. Good selection of Japanese beer (from Japan, not just the Japanese brands made in US and Canada) A... More

Aburiya Kinnosuke is one of our favorites in NYC. But you have to go into it with a bit of an open mind. The concept is different. You don't just order one dish and it's so much you can't finish it. This is not the Cheesecake Factory! This is authentic Japanese food. Okinawan, to be precise (although they seem to... More

I went there with a couple and the wife is Japanese so I let her select the food, and we all shared, the Japanese way. I ate food I never thought I would be able to eat (like cod sperm) but the ambiance, the quality of the presentation and ... the sake made everything easy and smooth ! You can... More

Tiny portions, exorbitant prices, that pretty much sums up our dinner experience in Abariya. All portions were lilliputian, the size of small appetizers. The grilled vegetables were tasteless, and the sirloin beef chewy and unseasoned. The shrimp was the only moderately enjoyable dish. There was no brown rice to be had, only white. There was grilled salmon filet either, only... More

You're not going to stumble across Aburiya Kinnisuke: it is hidden behind a very low-key entrance between large buildings off Third Avenue. Yet, inside, there is what I can only assume is a taste and experience of Japan itself. It is of a calibre that consumers of the growing fast-food sushi market (myself included) can only dream, and with atmosphere... More

Very unassuming from the outside, a decent space opens up inside. Make a reservation. We were seated on time, at the counter. At reservation we were told we would have the seats for 2 hours. Pretty large menu. So we went for the Omakase. They will give you options on the price and your food preferences are taken down. The... More

I went for a business lunch to this place and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The service was friendly and fast and the food delicious. I had the ramen noodles and they were great. The only down side was that it was a bit loud. Otherwise, I enjoyed my experience and recommend this place.

Visited Aburiya few years ago and so glad that we went back tonight for dinner. It was snowing lightly and it was cold. Entering a warm and familiar restaurant was very comforting. Service as usual was excellent. Met Hiro-san, the manager. Food ranged from sashimi to sukiyaki for winter and many more delicious treats. Sake list was very extensive and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
