Dined solo here, and while I was the only one doing so, I felt completely comfortable at all times. The room is large and therefore a little loud, but the atmosphere is friendly. The room is a bit on the dark side--some folks at neighboring tables needed their phone flashlights to read the menu. The bread and oil was disappointing--the... More

We've been trying restaurants throughout Chelsea to be our go-to dinner spot since we both began working in NYC. After being overcharged for mediocre food, rushed along to make room for an 8:00 seating, and faced its bizarre blaring music, we finally found the perfect spot, Il Bastardo. We just had our third dinner here and see many more in... More

First time dining here to celebrate my friend's birthday. Sat at the bar and enjoyed several really good happy hour margaritas. The bartender was very nice and attentive. We shared the four cheeses pizza and tiramisu, they both were divine! The huge chandeliers in this place is gorgeous. Will definitely return to try some more delights!

After a great win in the tournament a few fellow Seton Hall fans and I went to dinner to celebrate. We continued our "high" at this restaurant. The drinks were creative and nicely presented. I had a Blackberry Mint Margarita. It was not overly sweet or minty. Just the right combination of the two. Our appetizers and dinners were visually... More

Il Bastardo is a sort-of half restaurant-half bar place. The back dining room is more intimate; the front shares the bar and is more interesting. Big picture windows open onto the sidewalk for outdoor dining, weather permitting. The place is very casual and the service is friendly and quite good. The Bolognese sauce was superb, compensating for the slightly overcooked... More

The food was excellent. Had fried calamari as an appetizer and eggplant lasagna was amazing! Very hot temperature also which i really like. Companions had chicken dishes which were also enjoyed. Prices not too expensive especially for NYC. Will go back!

Il Bastardo was recommended to me by a family friend and I cannot thank him enough for the tip. I went here last week with a large group for dinner. They were able to accommodate almost 15 people comfortably at a large table. The 3-course prix fixe menu is perfect and very reasonably priced for the area. All of the... More

We went to II Bastardo Restaurant in Manhattan because the original one we had intended to eat at was too busy. This restaurant was a few steps down the avenue and we noticed the name when we originally walked by it. It's the Italian word for "an illegitimate child"! We liked the look of the place and went in. It... More

A nice, neighborhood style place with good food and decent service. The bruschetta was among the best we've had, and the chicken parm and gnocchi bolognese were just right. We had two appetizers, two dinners and three drinks for $106 plus tip, decent for the neighborhood. We waited just a bit too long between courses, but that annoyance was offset... More

Stopped in for the prix fixe lunch so many options. Food was delicious - can I rave about their mozzarella caprese with fresh august tomatoes and real creamy on the inside mozzarella? Then rigatoni with eggplant and ricotta salata - scrumptious! House wine is only $5 a glass. It doesn't get better than this for lunch. Can't believe the restaurant... More
